Yeah, we should get behind JG. He is good. He has flaws for sure. But if this line comes together next year he can be in the upper echelon of the SEC.
Agreed I think people forget he has two more years of eligibility left. He’s only gonna get more comfortable in Helton’s system and the Oline is only going to get better. He’ll be one of the top QB’s in the SEC the next two years.

Final thoughts, I really believe recruiting this year is going to feel once more like a dud. I could be wrong but my instincts tell me Pruitt won’t be able to sell the “help bring Tennessee back” dream that Dooley and Butch could, mainly because we’ve been down so long and recruits don’t trust us to give Pruitt time to build before we toss him out. We will get a nice class with some really nice pieces, but I don’t expect anywhere close to a quick fix elite top 5ish class. Time will tell!

After last year’s signing day, didn’t CJP promise a top five class? I’m not going to hold him to it but I always wondered about that bit of bravado (provided I am actually remembering this right)

He did. I think he’s going to regret that personally. I think he signs a quality class overall though. Just not elite.

On to Charlotte game... things I'd like to see:

  • Figure out an offensive lineman combination, and run with it the whole game. Let some guys get comfortable and develop continuity.
  • Our linebackers are putrid. Lets get Jordan Allen, Jeremy Banks, and JJ Peterson some snaps. Would mental errors really be worse than watching guys get run over?
  • Give JG and Chandler a couple series, but then insert KC and whomever else at RB. Don't want to lose either to injury - JG could use a mini-bye week and TC got banged up a little last night. Besides, guys like KC and London should get some run if for no other reason than to help put their game on film, in hopes of maybe getting a training camp invite.
  • Line Jordan Murphy out wide and send him deep.
  • Throw the ball to DWA. I know our line sucks but surely we won't need to keep him in to block against Charlotte, will we?
  • Throw the ball to Tyler Byrd. I know he's low on the totem pole as far as WR rotation, but the kid has been blocking his ass off all year without complaining. Throw him a bone or two.
  • Throw it to Cedric Tillman. Played too much to qualify for a RS, so lets see what the kid can do. Hell.... give Calloway adn Jennings a short day like JG and TC and run our young or mostly unused receivers a little.
No one gives a Blank what you want to see. If JG starts it will be a 4 quarter game.

I would be willing to bet had UT not fired Fulmer the last decade wouldn’t have turned out as badly.

They made a decision to get better as a program and man it backfired.

Just my opinion. I know Fulmer was on the decline but I don’t think he would have plummeted to the depths we have hit under the three coaches that followed him.
If your going to fire a coach, make sure you hire a better one. The gambles the UT administration has made is mind boggling.

If I wasn't a Vol fan I'd think it was laughable that Vol fans are complaining about this QB starting while much of the rest of those watching are talking about how well he's playing. (A couple of questionable plays don't make a bad game or bad QB) And it would be hilarious to me that they're even discussing replacing this HC in the middle of his first year. But since I am Vol fan it's not funny at all. It's really sad.
