i think the fact that folks are blaming losses on refs is actually a sign of progress.

i don't get the coaching angle really at this point. i thought offensively, it was probably their best game from a game planning and play calling standpoint.

defensively, i think there are some things they'd like to have back, but at the end of the day, we didn't do enough at the LB spot to stop the run enough to put USCe in bad spots offensively. make them throw. even down 2 scores, they were still able to run the ball effectively enough to not have to put it in Bently's hands.

if our run defense regresses again at the end of the year, like it has the past couple, then we'll experience similar results.

gotta get that fixed. we've been pretty good against hte run this year, relative to the last couple years, and we can't go backwards now.

the penalties on the O line was tough to watch. but aside from that, i thought they actually played pretty well physically. but it was apparent they weren't all there mentally. waay too many penalties on offense.

this team, has gotten better. and if pruitt did make mistakes, well, we've been talking about it all year, but i know i wondered how they'd do in a tight game with managing situations. i don't think they were bad mind you...but i'm sure you could find some stuff to pick on in the 2nd half.

the last thing i'll say is that we already went thru 5 years of finding ways to lose games we could have won.

this is the first one for Pruitt and co. just don't need to see that trend continue.
Deandre got abused all night. They ran right by him so many times.

We caused a fumble...those are huge game changing plays.
What I don't understand is that they will let the dogpile scrum go for several seconds without blowing the whistle, but on that play, they blew it when it was not clear he was down and stopped.

If you could choose for one of these guys to be your OC, who would it be between Sean Payton, Sean McVeigh or Andy Reid?

yeah. this place has gone a little nuts since Saturday night.

losing sucks. and there are reasons why we lost.

that doesn't mean it's a referendum on the state of the entirety of the program or on the coach's career path.

so much over reaction....the only reality there is, is that we're simply not good enough to overcome some of the mistakes that were made. it was clear to me that for a good portion of that game, we were the better team. and we executed the game plan we wanted to execute.

but as thin as we are on both lines of scrimmage, you can't give up 75 yards of field position on penalties. those are drive killers or drive builders for your opponents offense, and we can't give stuff away like that.

we won the TOP, we won the turnover battle, we got off to a good start finally. we led at half time and it was a 1 poessesion game with a chance to win late.

in a game like that, you just can't have the penalties, and you can't make it easy on their defense when it puts you in obvious situations, and you sure can't let their offense off the hook by giving them cheap yards or improved field position.

my biggest concern is tthe run D. really don't need that to rear it's ugly head again late in the season.

siap, but i'm way more interested now in how they responde to a game like this. we should have won. we didn't. what do we do with that going forward?

Well these guys have a lot of practice at playing after a loss.

yeah, but not like this. this was a "should have won" type game. in the previous 4 losses, we were either out of it waay early or outmanned or both.

we had that game. WE lost it. how they come back from taking that L will probably say a lot.

Well they all have studs so say all things being equal.
ok, so i'll say McVeigh with KC's players. and that's no slight on Reid. but i think Mahomes and those skill guys...whew....with the way Mcveigh has the Rams going would be darn near unstoppable.

can't wait to see that Rams/Chiefs game in a couple weeks.

The Rams/Saints game this week should be a great one also.

I was just pointing out that in their careers here at UT most of them have had to play after a loss like this, we've had more than our share the last few years.

And the Rams go to New Orleans Sunday...that's a pretty tough run.

Nick, when can we get that Charlotte preview?

Curious to see your pick this week 😂

Edit: NM, I missed it on my scroll through.

When I had Chief on ignore, I could still tell what crap he was spewing just based on the responses alone.
This is me right now. I really don't understand why any sane person would react the way I have seen him act in the past. Having him on ignore gets me through the forum much quicker and without the stress of wanting to punch through my monitor. It's utopia man.
