Recruiting Forum Football Talk [RIP 9.3.2019]

Been talk all week about the deck being stacked in Bama's favor, and I had a thought to share, see what you guys and gals think.

I think we all can agree that Tua is probably going to win the Heisman this year, right? And I'm not saying that he shouldn't...it's just not as cut and dry as the media and all the Bama lovers (Finebaum, Danielson, etc) try and convince us that it is. They've pumped Tua ever since he threw that TD in the championship game...and all the merrier, he plays for Bama.

They have shoved and shoved him down our throats all year long. Since the championship game, he was going to win the Heisman, NO MATTER WHAT. And say what you will about the Heisman Trophy, I know I do (it stopped being anything to take serious the moment Paul Hornung won it over Johnny Majors); however, it's still pub, prestige, hardware to add to a program.

As I said, I'm not saying Tua shouldn't win it...all I'm saying is, no one else has even been given a fair chance. If Tua and Kyler Murray switched schools, Kyler Murray would be the front runner. If Tua and Will Grier switched schools, Will Grier would be the front runner.

Coming into season, we all heard that Will Grier was a Heisman Trophy candidate...now, he may be mentioned, but there's no way he is going to win it. Why? What has he done to lose it? Absolutely nothing! He just doesn't play for Bama...same goes for Murray.

Compare:
Tua: 68% of his passes, for 2,361 yds, 27 TDs, and 1 INT

Grier: 69% of his passes, for 2,618 yds, 28 TDs, and 7 INTs.

Before you say: 'well, Tua has hardly played in the 4th quarter this year'...Will Grier has played in one less game.

Now, before some say: 'what about their legs, their rushing'. Yes, Tua has better rushing #'s than Grier...which brings me to Kyler Murray.

Compare Tua's passing stats to Murray's. Tua's mentioned above.
Murray: 70% of his passes, for 2,689 yds, 31 TDs, and 5 INTs. His passing #'s are better in every way, and...

Rushing:
Tua: 29 carries for 172 yds (5.9 ypc), and 3TDs.

Murray: 82 carries for 574 yds (7 ypc), and 7 TDs.

Again, I'm not saying Tua doesn't deserve it...all I'm asking is, why hasn't Will Grier, and especially Kyler Murray, been shoved and shoved down our throats like Tua has? Yes, Bama is #1; but WV and OK are 15-2 combined.

Idk, maybe I'm alone in this...

I do think he has benefited from some amazing WRs. He looked mortal yesterday. But I have no doubt Murray and Grier have benefited more from trash defenses. Big XII is a joke in regards to stopping th other team.

I understand what you're saying, and don't necessarily disagree; but, besides LSU, name me another defense Tua has played that wouldn't be considered a trash defense?

If you score one offensive TD against Charlotte it’s a terrible game plan going into the game and you didn’t have your offense ready to play.
Wht did we continue to throw horizontal passes for a loss or no gain and run the interior for a loss or no gain?

I don’t know. TBH and no offense I’ve offered enough of my mental resources toward the Hypesman with that post. Lol.

If Helton does end up leaving which i think he will, i would love to pluck off the Joe Moorhead tree of assistants and bring that offense here.

Recruiting is mostly all that matters right now and for the next couple seasons. And of course developing the new players and the strength and conditioning program.

Pruitt brought in 25 of his guys almost a year ago. He’ll bring 25 this time around which puts us another class away from just about a full roster of his guys.

I expect next fall we’ll see improvement in all areas but still be relying on freshman and sophomores mostly. The future will become much brighter. Year 3 is when we should be back competing with UGA for the East. Enjoy the ride...
Even at that though I don't think the 2018 class was really his class

Oh, yeah, I totally get where you're coming from. The only reason I brought it up was because of all the talk last week about Bama's advantage on all of college football, and this year's Heisman is just one more example of it.
