So, I've been reading some positive recruiting articles the last few days. Seems like we have a good shot at some high-profile players. Can some of you vets tell me... is this typical discussion at this time of year, or is the current state of our recruiting really something to get excited about? (I need something to get excited about :) )

there is plenty to be positive and upbeat about. This staff has us in the mix for some big time players. We need to break through and get a few of these who haven't committed yet. Success on the field is what's going to help us break through IMO. Winning out is going to be tough, but it could certainly boost us in to signing a top tier class. I'll wait til the ink is dry on this class to really get excited, but certainly encouraged so far.

I think better coaches is very debatable. Especially the last couple years.
Ok, you want to nitpick one single word in my post lol. Fine other conferences have good coaches. But the only reason most of them aren't coaching in the SEC is because they don't want the pressure, they're scared. Urban Meyer faked a heart attack to avoid Saban and go to OSU.

Chip Kelly and Scott Frost could have had the UF job. And probably UT job as well. They chose other jobs with less pressure.

If you guys have a subscription to the athletic, I highly recommend the piece on A. Taylor. If you don’t have a sub they will let you read 3 free articles a month so go check it out. This kid has a lot of great influences in his life. He’s already our best player on defense and is going to be an absolute star here imo. Wouldn’t surprise me to see Pruitt turn him into a first rounder.

First, I said some of them and we actually have no way of knowing. So, you can't say it's wrong.
To be exact you said "most, if not all." We have a pretty solid idea. I guess since we don't really know, I can say Vanderbilt would beat the Rams if they played a game next Sunday. There's really know way of knowing, so you can't say it's wrong.

Let's look at things this way regarding the 5 leagues

Best team in each league:
1 Bama
2 Clemson
3 OU
4 michigan
5 Washington State

The SEC clearly wins this one

#2 team in each league
Georgia-Ohio State
West Virginia
Washington
Boston college

Giving the SEC and Big Ten a tie for winning this one even though I think Georgia is better.

#3 team in each league
LSU
Texas
Mich State
Utah
Syracuse

SEC wins easily this group

#4 team in each league
Miss State -Penn State
Iowa state
Oregon
NC State

Another tie between SEC and BIg 10

Number #5 team
Auburn
Wisconsin
Stanford
NC state
Texas Tech

SEC wins again

Number 6 team in each league
Texas A@M
USC
Iowa
Texas tech
Pitt

SEC wins again

Number 7 team
Kentucky
Purdue
Baylor
Virginia Tech
Cal

SEC wins again

Number 8 teams
Florida
Arizona state
Northwestern
Ok state
Miami

SEC wins again

Number 9 team
USCe
Duke
Maryland
Tcu
Colorado

SEC wins yet again

10th best teams:
Mizzu
Ga Tech
K State
Arizona
Indiana

SEC wins again

So can we please stop this parity, other leagues are deeper, Bama is the only good team BS this board keeps spewing out?

Oh there is plenty to be excited about. We are going to probably land about four highly rated 5* players down the stretch here. Things are looking up on Rocky Top.

Mason does have that D playing strong.

Agree with you in principle....but Scott Frost went home to Nebraska....there's not less pressure to win there...

They will expect him to develop Nebraska into THE dominant Big-10 team....remember, they fired Frank Solich for compiling a 58-19 record and going 9-3 his last season there....

Yea sure. Out-of-State, Dyed-in-the-wool gator fan, power running back, recruited by a read-option new coach at Tennessee had a deciding factor that was the logo on his jersey? I know we were in it and he could be argued as not a power back, but c’mon.
Dooley didn’t run a read option...and he was in his 3rd year.
