So, I'm in Morocco, and I'm kind of getting a taste of what @nicksjuzunk goes through by being on the other side of the world. You refresh volnation and see almost no activity for hours, and then check back after the eastern US wakes up and find you're 10 pages behind all of a sudden.
Larry Elder, a talk radio guy from Los Angeles, calls it the Elvis factor. A few years ago, a poll came out showing that something like 12% of Americans believed Elvis was still alive, and 8% believed that he'd get a letter if you sent it to him.
Because of people like that, you can never get above 85-90% approval on anything. Wanting to fire a HC or OC only part way through their first season after taking over from an historically bad season is goofy, but not everyone is reasonable. Just ask Elvis.
Any team news from it or just wanting to say it 3 times like candyman?
Creating depthSo the Vols are expected to go with Marcus Tatum, who remains a bit dinged up, and Drew Richmond at tackle with Ryan Johnson at center and Jamir Johnson and Nathan Niehaus at left and right guard, respectively. Jerome Carvin continues to struggle on the practice field and hasn't been able to work his way back to the field.
Obviously, the offensive front has real challenge ahead of them — and that also includes the tight ends. A week ago, the biggest issue was simply missed assignments. That's been the focal point this week and the hope is that the offense carries it to the game field on Saturday. Remember, Pruitt has said this team has practiced well the last few weeks including Charlotte week. But offensively, it didn't carry over to the game.
The extra youth work continues on the practice field as well, with 20-30 minutes of extra fundamental work on Monday's with the scout team guys, a few second team guys, and even a few starters. On Tuesdays, Pruitt puts the ball down and the scout team guys scrimmage for 20-30 minutes or so. Tennessee has been doing it for 2-3 weeks now and will continue the rest of the season.
Abernathy has practiced all week and there has been growing encouragement with the possibility of him being available to play as the week has progressed. A final decision on the senior’s availability will be made on Saturday but all signs point to Abernathy’s return. Trevon Flowers has taken no contact this week but has practiced for a second straight week. Before returning to contact work, Flowers' collarbone must pass a final density test to show if it's healed enough
-VQLook for Tracy Rocker to continue to rep freshman John Mincey and Emmitt Gooden on the defensive line. Both have been getting more and more work on the practice field and Gooden is becoming the swing guy, working really at all positions on the defensive line including defensive end in an effort to get more size and four true defensive linemen on the field.
