I think you’re kinda missing his point. I don’t want another micromanager as Hc. Especially one controlling the offense when he’s a defensive guy, which typically doesn’t end well for said Coach.

He needs to be the coach, worry about the defense and not have his eyes looking over the OC’s shoulder telling him what he’s doing and how he should do it
And you might be missing Nash’s. We’ve been burned by the micromanaging bug so we may see it where it’s not. Pruitt seemed to want a consistent attack with some big play elements as the season developed. We didn’t see much of that and he’s seen chewing some ass as his defense has to get back on the field...that’s coaching. Time will tell which narrative to buy.

Nobody claimed he is for sure. It’s speculation based off of LA’s comment, I’m not sure why you’re getting defensive over it

Because it's a dumb reason to all of a sudden call Pruitt a micromanager of offense that will never make it based on one persons comments. Just like it's dumb to think Helton sucks because of last yr.

Could they have just went with a air raid 5 play system quick pass all day probably but then you start all over again the following yr since you didn't run your system yr 1. They had to keep pushing their standard and system regardless of outcome to let these kids understand they will have to do it or gtfo

I fully understand what his point was

It’s speculation based on LA’s comment and there’s nothing wrong with that. And if what he said is true than yes, it’s very possible Pruitt will be Muschamp at UF

The scheme is multiple games was bad.

You mean gameplan which is play calling? Scheme is the base system of the offenseZ the foundation. Nothing wrong with the system being run. It was inconsistent play and play calling which like I said it basically impossible because of the OL and QB and inability of having no blocking TEs

Wasn’t this a paycut for him though? The familiarity between parties, the reduced pressure, etc.

Initially yes I was concerned he fell UPWARD.

Most coaches eventually want to run their own show. For every Chavis there are 5 Cutcliffes.

You’re markedly more curmudgeonly tonight. The residual from all the debates you’re in on have you on the fritz my man. Too many irons in the fire. Take a little butchna time.
I think what you quoted was fairly even keel. Maybe you’re shedding eggs?

Obviously everyone wants to know where things are in Pruitt's search for a new OC. Honestly, there's not really anything new compared to names he put on our first hot board.

I still think the biggest question is what style of offense does Pruitt want to play and what candidates philosophies fit his program best.

I spoke to someone in coaching today who laughed at idea of spread guy versus non-spread guy.

The guy said every offense has some spread principles in it and no one can really define what a spread offense is.

The reality is that Pruitt want to run the football, create explosive plays and score points.

In talking to some people, I believe Freddie Kitchens, Chip Lindsey are guys on Pruitt's early list. Pruitt knows both of them.

Dan Enos is another guy that Pruitt knows and we feel is on the list.

Hugh Freeze has been the name that's drawn the most reaction from fans. And some media people have claimed there's no chance and others say he's in play.

Here's where I think it is with him. I don't think he's "out" meaning there's no chance. I don't think he's a favorite or anything like that. I think he wants to coach and is really interested in the Tennessee job. I think at some point Pruitt and Freeze will talk philosophies/ball and see if Freeze's offense ideals are what Pruitt is looking for.

Pruitt knows this is a critical early hire for him and as someone told me. He's going to research alot of guys. He's not going to dismiss someone simply because of what their perceived system might be.

No. We had no true identity on offenses. Our scheme wasn’t simply spread or power running. Helton brought a lot of what USC has been using under Helton while Pruitt wasn’t comfortable with a lot it (we know this for sure). It wasn’t a good fit

If Pruitt really believes all of this and if he trusts his assistant coaches fully and they do their job, then UT will be back on the right path. Because these coaches are going to get a significant talent upgrade between this class and next year's class.

I'm much more open to Lindsey than I first was after reading up on him and seeing his work particularly at Southern Miss.

OK, STOP. Stop attributing things to me that I never said to make a point that isn't mine and with which I may or may not be in agreement. I never called Pruitt a micromanager, never said he meddled and never said he wanted to run every down. I said he wanted to install a power run offense, starting installing it this year and wants to hire an OC who shares his offensive philosophy. I said he didn't have the personnel to run what he wanted to run and would have to recruit into it. I attributed that to having a strong vision and said that he was taking a long view. I also said that he would hire someone he knows and is comfortable with to avoid staff discord and keep everyone on the same page.

Anybody who doesn't agree with any of that, cool. Dissenting opinions-- no problem. Discussing them-- educational for all. But don't put words in my mouth, make me the author of other posters' opinions or use what I posted as a springboard for issues that aren't mine or complaints I haven't voiced. I'd appreciate it and it would spare us some of the snarkery.

Saying it this way is a lot better and on same page. Maybe you didn't notice it but you had people jumping on board the Pruitt is going to ruin himself and get in his own way train for no reason

A lot of folks are fixated on Freeze, but Kitchens is the name that stands out to me in that write up.

Just because Arians said he’d consider the Cleveland job doesn’t mean he’ll take it, or that they’d offer. Remember, the Haslams are the owners.

True but if that offense keeps trending up kitchens will be an Hot commodity somewhere as OC in NFL. It would be smart if anyone hired their to keep him if it keeps trending up. If it trends down then everyone here will hate him anyway lol
