Kitchens is kicking arse with the Browns since he took over. He will probably get retained or another nfl job.
Yeah I don’t see how Kitchen makes any sense given that 1) he’s been in the NFL forever, 2) he’s kicking ass in his first chance at playcaller and 3) we couldn’t hire him until the NFL season ends.

Amen! And from the looks of some of the bass he's caught, I think I'd be learning from him more than he from me.
Yeah, you show him the honey holes and he shares his technique. It's a win-win. Now you just need to get on the phone with him and sell him that the fishin' is better in East Tennessee than in East Alabama! Volnation is counting on you Bassmaster!

I read a crazy stat that they are like 10/10 inside the redzone with touchdowns since he took over or something. That’s impressive as hell with a rookie QB and no real #1 WR

Well, it at least appears that the coach, AD, and others involved are at least weighing the options if the risk of hiring Freeze is worth the possible rewards of hiring him. Just the conversation seems to indicate a deeper commitment to bringing the football program back.
very underrated post here.
i agree 100%. there was a time, not very long ago, we wouldn't have even picked up the phone to find out.

I thought Freeze had been a QB coach? An no, I wasn't saying that. I said if Tee would come here I'd rather have him than Weinke.

Me too. But I think Weinke is a rising star in the coaching ranks. I’m not sure how he is as recruiter though. With Tee, you know what you’re getting.

Unless Freeze's wiki is wrong (which is definitely possible), he hasn't been a QB coach. Dan Werner was his QB coach for all 4 years at Ole Miss.

Weinke would probably do fine as QB coach.

This is really my only concern with Freeze being hired.

The scorching hot name at the top of most hot boards is former Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze. Sources tell Volquest that Pruitt and other members of his staff met with Freeze while recruiting the Memphis area.

The discussion between the two sides was a great opportunity for Pruitt to get a good feel for Freeze on a professional level since they haven’t worked together before.

Freeze isn't the only candidate Pruitt is currently evaluating, with Alabama quarterbacks coach Dan Enos, Auburn offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey and Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens very much in the mix, too.

Sources tell Volquest that Pruitt is more familiar and comfortable with all three, having either coached or played with them at points during his playing and coaching career.

Pruitt has expressed an interest to be more dynamic and explosive on offense which would play well with Freeze's big play offense. He also wants to be balanced and physical.

But but but Pruitt wants to handcuff the OC and run a conservative offense...

If we hire Freeze I think we could move Weinke to QB coach, promote Lilly to TE coach, and move Nieds to RB coach.

i think it was kind of telling that it wasn't just pruitt that went on this little excursion. having other memebers of the staff there...that sticks out to me.
