I don’t think so. OL should be much improved if for no other reason they won’t be the smallest OL in the country anymore. We may have the worst OL and DL in the SEC again next year...the floor is lower than you think.
Freshman everywhere along the lines in the two deep is not a recipe for success...it will be a recipe for a lot of aggravating missed assignments, and just plain being out-physicaled by older more mature lineman (I know not a real word, but I like it)Yep. If we’re ineffective in the trenches again it doesn’t really matter how much better a lot of our other positions are next year.
Pruitt seems to want to be a defensive team, but I don’t think the DL we’ll be able to put on the field next year will set that unit up for much success, even with possibly huge upgrades at LB and in the secondary.
There’s been some talk in Alabama that Jalen might not transfer. He might just go into the draft or stay and learn another position at Bama. I don’t think it’s a 100% guarantee he’s gonna transfer yet.Next years schedule is significantly easier and I feel pretty confident that Hurts is here next year. Our win total should increase by a good margin with other teams losing so much and us getting an infusion of talent that we will be next year. Not to mention finally catching up with S&C
The offensive line is going to be better just by having another year in the S&C program. Probably still *bad* but *better* to some degree. We may have the worst OL and DL in the SEC again next year...the floor is lower than you think.
Vandy could nosedive next year. The offensive line is going to be better just by having another year in the S&C program. Probably still *bad* but *better* to some degree.
Swap WVU with BYU, so that’s a win. And you better find a way to beat either Vandy, Missouri or South Carolina in year 2.
7 wins is the floor.
Are you serious that you think lines full of freshman and undevelooed Jucos are going to be an immediate upgrade?I don’t think so. OL should be much improved if for no other reason they won’t be the smallest OL in the country anymore.
I’m holding out hope for the DL. Lot of freshman got some quality experience and they redshirted Emerson. Those young guys who played looked good. DT improved a lot this year and he’s coming back also. Add the juco guys and hopefully a stud freshman like Eboigbe and I think our DL can be much improved next year.
I believe in this staff to develop players.
I expect the OL to noticeably improve with the added year of development and certainly a strong group of freshman. The key to me is the defensive front 7...they've got to find some guys who create chaos and make plays. Being "solid" isn't enough...they need some defensive playmakers creating sacks and turnovers. The secondary will be good but they can only do so much without significant impact from not just the DL but also the LBs. UT got a little of this from Taylor and Phillips on occasion, but the LBs made very few plays.I don’t think so. OL should be much improved if for no other reason they won’t be the smallest OL in the country anymore.

You already know it, you just admitted it, but you don't want to see the obvious...a bad line is still a bad line. The offensive line is going to be better just by having another year in the S&C program. Probably still *bad* but *better* to some degree.

We had the worst line I’ve ever seen this year, learning a completely new system, and we still won 5 games. We’re injecting three very highly rated guys and allowing the guys we retain another year of strength training and scheme development. It’s not crazy to think that, if a coaching staff is worth its salt, they should win two more games in their second year. You already know it, you just admitted it, but you don't want to see the obvious...a bad line is still a bad line.
YIKES
7 wins is the floor next year.
I don’t know where you’re seeing lines full of freshmen. The only freshmen I expect to start next year is Wanya at LT. which freshman do you see starting at DL? Gooden will be the nose and he was arguably our most effective DL this year. Should be better next year. Mincey, Butler, Bennent, Johnson all looked pretty good when they played. They’re redshirting a couple guys they’re high on like Emerson and Garland. The juco guys come in for depth like Gooden was this year. Where are the freshmen you’re talking about? If we get Eboigbe then yeah he should contribute but players like him are capable of it. This is a young unit who will have been developing under this staff for two years when they hit the field. Are you serious that you think lines full of freshman and undevelooed Jucos are going to be an immediate upgrade?
You can sprinkle in uber talented polished prodigies on veteran lines and be successful, but two lines full of them is not gonna be fun to watch.
I expect very little from the guys already on the team, because I have seen very little that gives me hope that they can be much better.
I disagree. He has regressed but he looked like the next star his freshman year before he lost Jimbo and randy, probably the best pair of QB coaches in CFB. He has all kinds of talent and would be a 2 year Grad transfer i think.Francois sucks..he isn't a lick better than the guy we already have that you hate.
