I honestly think the O line can be fine if they learn the scheme and bulk up a bit this offseason. D line is probably a steeper hill, but the secondary is beginning to look like it could be elite in the near future and the LB room is about to get some talent. JG is a gamer and what you want out of a QB. Give him time to improve after another offseason.

I don't expect them to do anything but screw up a lot. The incoming Fr will all be in the three deep, and if/when the inevitable injuries happen...they will have to be counted on.
Three deep sure. But I don’t see us relying on a freshman next year on the OL except for Wanya. Not sure your fear is reality here

I’m actually with Hank on this one. Even with Freeze next year will be tough. Tons of Freshmen and Sophomores all over the place. Just expecting a bowl game.

However, guaranteed by fall camp i’ll Be at 9-3 - if we only upset UGA we win the East! Lol

Here’s the thing: I don’t think 7 wins is a good year. I don’t think you have to be a good team to win 7 games.

I’m not making some astronomical prediction by suggesting a coaching staff should have a two game improvement from year 1 to year 2.
that i agree with. it's all relative.

i think the issue will come in when/if we're playing those freshmen OL against measuring stick teams, they're going to struggle. and there will be some in this fan base that will have unfairly placed expectatons on them to perform way above their heads simply because they're 5* guys.

and on the ol it just doesn't work that way....as a rule. sure, there are excepitons. but make no mistake, they are exceptions.

we just haven't had the ability/luxury to bring in highly rated OL and develop them, even for a year before they're forced in to action.

and that wont' change this season. talented......but young. if the OL is going to make anything close to significant progress, it's going to come from the guys that are coming back. if those guys get significantly better, then it may provide the opportunity for those freshmen to do well.

but if we're COUNTING on the freshmen to be the difference on the OL...........................nah, i think you're right, 7 is probably the ceiling then.

Agreed. Got to get bowl eligible next year, and be competitive in the games we don't win. This year we got legit blown out in 6 of our 7 losses. A huge step forward would be 7-5 with no blowout losses.

I think Wanya is going to be legitimately good next year. Like Trey Smith and Juwuan James.
We need Kennedy to actually be healthy for a full season for once in his career. If that can happen our OL will improve dramatically with Morris and another year of S&C for the others. Morris, Wright and the other new guys will create much needed competition in practice that will help immensely as well.

Man, this talk of our depth on the OL and how we will do next year is killing my Freeze. Lol. Can we get back to stalking twitter and relaying hidden code messages?

I don’t think a formal offer has been made yet. Freeze is the only candidate we have formally met with (maybe multiple times but not sure). Not sure what the hold up is if he is Pruitt’s first choice...maybe Pruitt is still mulling it?

All of that’s fair. I’m not saying that our OL is suddenly going to be Bamas. But I am saying that they won’t be 280 pounds anymore across the board. That’s significant improvement right there if nothing else. They should be able to get some push if for no other reason than that they’re bigger and stronger after two years with Fitz.

On the DL, it isn’t like we had guys that are difficult to upgrade over. Gooden will be better next year than anyone we had this year imo. Young guys got good experience this year and let them develop under this staff for another year and it isn’t hard to expect to be improved at that position. Again, not saying elite, but improved.
we're on the same page on the OL. better. but what does 'better' reall look like?

the DL, aside from Gooden, it's just unknown.

Did our friend jimmyH really just day his sources say Feeze isn't happening??

I didn't hear it but a buddy says he said it on 104.5

You guys still don't get it...we are still a season out from respectability. We didn't get beat by a few measley points by the teams that beat us..we got hog slaughtered.
by some really experienced teams. Mizzou, Vandy, KY all lose key pieces. we trade Auburn for MSU, and MSU loses A LOT of key pieces.

and the OOC doesn't have anyone close to the caliber of WVU.

i think the reason you can be optimistic if you want to is that you look at the schedule and you don't automaticaly see 6 or 7 bad match ups.

at worst, they're at least unknown right now lol.

This...the DL is my biggest concern for next season. 13 needs 15 pounds and 19 should be improve. DT outside of Gooden is a bunch of RS freshmen. Time for Fitz to earn his dollars.

Also concerned with OL but DL has so many unknowns.
