Recruiting Forum Football Talk [RIP 9.3.2019]

When Freeze was at Ole Miss everyone on here would talk about how sleazy and a cheat He was. And if we weren't looking for an OC we would be bad mouthing him and who ever hired him. But since we do have a chance to hire him then all of a sudden he's not that bad and stuff he did is no big deal. Also to the people acting like the Briarcrest is nothing, you need to ask yourself how you would feel if that girl would had been your daughter that he made take her shirt off in front him.
So you believe every accusation made against someone? People like you are why good men have their lives ruined with lies

I have a hard time believing this. He has gotten several jobs since being at that school and vetted at each long before he was a hot commodity. The timing of those allegations coinciding with him being released at Ole Miss are also questionable. Why would none of that get out before? All of a sudden since he resigned at Ole Miss everyone chooses to speak up?

Not saying hes innocent or it didn't happen but with all of the media focus on misconduct stuff like that over the past year that would have gained more traction than a few articles that lasted a week.

If those things were true the SEC would know about it before Tennessee and when he was put on a two year hiatus it would have been permanent instead.

Even going back to his Briarcrest days, Freeze had significant power and influence and a lot of powerful and influential people in his corner. Speaking out against him would mean inviting all kinds of backlash. I can understand why people would be hesitant to tell their stories. It is also very common for years, or even decades, to pass before victims of abuse or misconduct feel comfortable talking about what they experienced. So far it sounds like the accusations from Briarcrest are of behavior that was inappropriate without crossing the line to abuse, but there are other issues as well.

The accusation from Freeze's background that throws up the biggest red flag for me is the one no one seems to be talking about, and that is the allegation that when major recruiting violations committed during Freeze's tenure at Ole Miss began to surface, Freeze tried to pin them on Houston Nutt to save his own skin. Rather than accepting responsibility for his mistakes, Freeze is alleged to have intentionally and maliciously attempted to destroy an innocent man's career and public image in order to save himself. If true, that speaks to an astounding moral deficiency IMO. When you add everything up (major recruiting violations, the escort service, accusations of actively working to pin his NCAA violations on Nutt, accusations of inappropriate disciple with sexual undertones at Briarcrest), I think Freeze comes with too much baggage. I hope we pass. If we do hire him, prepare yourselves for the other shoe to drop.

The Briarcrest stuff just seems creepy moreso than rapey. Being a creepy teacher isn't a crime though. But if Pruitt got the same vibes or didn't quite believe Freeze's explanations for all this stuff in his interview, then he may have decided he's not Volunteer material. And I'm good with that. We hired him to make those decisions and he should protect our program and students.

I agree. Enos and Drinkwitz aren't real candidates and Pruitt just let Lindsey go to Kansas. It's been Freeze and it's still Freeze, IMO.

I believe that to be true as well Ron as I stated multiple times.

Edited: for improper information.

Had to read the article again for about the 4th time to try to find where it states that Freeze watched her take her shirt off. Still couldn't find it.

“He didn’t do anything sexual. But I stood in the corner and faced the wall when I did it and I changed out of my shirt. No privacy.’’

If he’s not hired because their uncomfortable with these allegations, I can understand that. But, while we wait, we’re risking missing out on other top candidates. I wish he’d just go offer Enos 1.5 and get it done
I really like this calm, level-headed Bass a lot more than “LIBERATE TUTEMET EX INFERIS” Bass.

One of the reasons victims don't come forward right away or ever is because people like you won't believe them.
There isn't much difference in unequivocally believing everything a person says making claims about someone with no proof and unequivocally believing the person having the claims made against them is 100% innocent without proof. Stupid people make a judgement without all of the information. The rational wait and make informed decisions after hearing both sides of the argument. Let's all be rational.

I’m not proclaiming him anything.

Everything I’ve read (everything that’s available to the public) is enough for me to say I don’t want him to be hired at UT.

Everything we’re hearing from our “insiders” is that there’s a new snag. And now the Briarcrest stuff is being pointed at as a possible answer. It makes total sense.

I don't know. The Briarcrest stuff has been out for public consumption since July of 17'. Unless they dug into that a little more and found out some extra stuff I doubt that goes overlooked until now. It sounds like Pruitt has known he would be filling Helton's spot for a few weeks and zeroed in on Freeze pretty early.
Strictly JMO.

I agree with you almost entirely. And yet, if Pruitt wants Freeze, I’m OK with it, barring some kind of major issue that I’m not aware of.

Regarding the shirt thing, details of the alleged incident are not entirely clear. It is inappropriate, period, if he in fact made a girl change her shirt in a room in which he was present. (It’s not even clear that the allegation is that he was standing there watching, though.) But this allegedly occurred 20 years ago, and if there’s not a serious pattern of problematic behavior with students, I can get past it at this point.

I think if he was good enough to be OC at Bama, he's probably capable enough to be OC here. Was QB Coach and OC during the Pete Carroll years I believe. He did well with Locker at Washington too. Pruitt knows him. Just an option should we not get Freeze.

Good enough for me..I knew he had some success at different places he’s been.

If that girl was anything like my two daughters and all their friends that were also in middle school in the 90's she likely had at least two or three layers of clothes on under that shirt..it was a thing then..sports bra, cami, tank top and then shirt. My girls still do that multi layer thing.
