That chalk talk link you posted made him more interesting, for sure. I’ll forget this point later so I’ll throw it out now. When some of our posters want to replace Weinke with someone who played RB? Werner joins HUGH FREEZE and Cutcliffe as coaches who never played college football. This Werner guy coaches up QB’s and played veer formation WR in high school.

chris low on swain now, nothing new really. "take it slow, get it right". no real info on any new candidates. says freeze isn't dead, still maintains that freeze wants/wanted to be here. Bama probably in play too. lots of moving parts still to come depending on who locksley wants to, and is able to, take to MD with him.

having slept on it, i don't have an issue with the not hiring Freeze deal. the baggage is real and was always going to be a consideration.

the thing thag just gets me is how do you get it to this point as your #1 candidate, and not already have all the pro/con folks chimed in.

i don't think we've made an actual offer.

i'm not 100% convinced Fulmer isn't the one with the pause.

unfortunately we just won't know much until we see what happens at Bama with their OC. i think we're in the unfortunate spot of resetting the search, and having to see what happens elsewhere, absent any new informaiton on other candidates that aren't related to any of this currently.

i don't get all the venom for the "insiders" here. it's up to you to decide what you do with the information posted. if you're that mad, that's your problem. not theirs. Atlantavol never said it was freeze, you interpreted it as freeze. he said the choice was made, and he was asked if he was happy with the choice, and he said "yes, and i think you will be to".

the media has had several different versions of the stories coming out. VQ, 247, Chis low, WMNL, Fox guys....they all had "different" versions of the same stories. some reported there were offers, others said no offer made. some reported Enos and Drink were real, others said they weren't. some said Freeze was on various campuses interviewing, others reproted they were phone calls.

long story short...............no one knows/knew exactly what was going on. some of y'all just need to get over that part of it.

as for the OC, i think it's probably prudent to take a little time and not rush. rushing because things didn't go our way the first go arounds got us Derek Dooley.....everybody now agrees the more prudent thing to do would have been to hire Kippy Brown as an interim and reset the search. same mindset needs to be applied here.

i think things can probably work out pretty good for us. i don't know that when we look back on this it'll be as bad as we've thought it would be the last 12 hours or so.

we'll see.

now, back to work.

I’d rather roll with Osvet than Canada given his track record. That being said, when Canada was successful, it was when he was paired with a defensive coach who didn’t meddle at Pitt.

he just threw out there as a possiblity given his history in recruiting for TN and likely knowing a lot of backstory..... he didn't say it like he knows that's what happened.

I'd be interested to know if he was a big part of South Carolina offense success. What would be he has a long list of QBs going back to his days with the canes.

The thought of Werner also brings up the question... is Hugh waiting to see where he can bring him on staff?

Harralson throwing Probst name out there again as a dark horse the longer it goes.
