Interesting. Kills the theory that it has always been a done deal. I think personally that Pruitt put the OC on the backburner and really attacked recruiting. He knew he had time later for a OC and it would not hurt recruiting.
I ask you again, other than Georgia, who did they beat? The strength of schedule is irrelevant if you don't beat those teams that make your schedule the hardest then it doesn't mean much. I'm not saying that LSU sucked by any means but they were not what I consider a great team by LSU standards.
I thought you worked for Tulane?
The idea is not that Butch would have done anything, it is that if UT had hired a real coach after Fulmer, that kids like these and other elites would be winning big at UT.My 2 cents on the whole "whoa is us Clemson football our favorite players..." thing...
I try to dull my pain by telling myself this is the way it had to happen to perhaps knock Bama down. Even if we would've got Trevor, Tee, Amari.... They wouldn't have had the supporting cast they do now... Or the coaching and development they do now. Not at all taking anything away from their individual talents and abilities, they are great. And not saying I didn't want them anyway because I did... Trevor seems like a great kid.
But what are the chances, honestly, that they thrive under Butch? Does Butch get canned when he does if they come? Does he run one or all of them off with his nonsense?
I'm just saying, it's not like we are playing Bama last night for it all if we get them here. We are in a bowl this year most likely, but I guess what my point is.. Is everything happens for a reason. And at least they didn't go to to Florida or some bullcrap like that.
The record at the time means nothingI work for both.

Strength of schedule is only irrelevant if you don't handle your business, and LSU did. The preseason expectations were low, I think they were ranked 25 but ended up as high as 4. They haven't posted 10 wins since 2013, and its only the 11th time in the last 30 years they've done that. If anything, I believe this year was a return to LSU being a legitimate contender like they used to be.

I mentioned recruiting because I don't think this year was a flash in the pan, I think they'll have depth to sustain success for a few years.
Yep. 2015 and 2016 both, we were talented enough to make the playoff. In 15, we were a handful of plays away from having 1 loss, and the Arkansas game goes much differently if we start the year with a win over OU and Fla, IMO.Saban started Bama rise on the backs of freshman and JUCOs(credit groves).
Not saying we should be playing for titles in 4 years but Butch had us within an ear shot if NY6 within 4.
No one should discount that Orgeron was a favorite on everyone's preseason hot seat list. The QB transfers, OC turnover, and a flash-in-the-pan HC history were all reasonable warning signs of a losing season.I work for both.

LSU ended with 10 wins in the toughest division of the toughest conference in the country. LSU way overachieved.
Because they were offered to play Florida but didn't want to play a big boy in season.I don't get the ucf hate. They get screwed by having arguably a top 5 team but getting treated like not even a top 15 team, and now people hate them because they use a little sarcasm and irony to campaign for more equitable treatment? That Frost team would have spanked Washington, I don't understand why everyone hates them instead of hating the 4 team system that doesn't allow these things to be decided on the field.
