The record at the time means nothing

Miami finished unranked
Auburn finished unranked
Miss State finished unranked
UCF did finish 11th but they don't play a real schedule

GA is their only quality win IMO, although I do think UCF is a pretty decent team.

what? of course it matters. it puts those wins in a different context in the moment they happened. most of them were upsets. And whose to say that if MIA isn't upset in week 1 they don't finish stronger? Same with AUB. UCF may not play a "real" schedule, but they'd beat all but maybe 4 SEC teams.

If you're interested in a Gundy style offense why haven't we heard these names...seem far more possible.

Tim Beckman (active HC at Illinois so maybe a reach)
Larry Fedora (HC experience & SEC experience)
Walt Bell (New UMass HC..but from TN! Not as proven as others though)
Jake Spavital (New Texas State HC...but has SEC & OC experience)

Beckman hasn't been the coach at Illinois since 2014 and has been unemployed since then. Plus he's a defensive coach.

Spav was #1 on my list early. He will be the next great HC candidate imo after a couple years tho.
Rumor is fedora actually reached out to Pruitt and was told no thanks.

Idk monken is from that OK state tree right? Could be the offense Pruitt wants to run. But monken has had a couple HC interview in the nfl

It's definitely the offense he isn't going for. Just not getting my hopes up. Monken gets a lot of credit for Bucs offense in NFL circles. Don't think they let him out. It will have to mean he thinks gen is better served in college game and prefers being a college HC again for us to land him imo... would be a home run

So from all the rumors, tweets, VN threads, & insiders JP has went after Yurcich, Chaney, & Sark..

If those are legit his top 3 OC picks and we're just striking out I am not too upset, honestly.

Yurcich appears to care about being in Ohio above all else, and landed at the best spot he could.

Chaney is in a better spot now & is about to get big money to stay.

Sark wants & has options to stay in the NFL a far better situation all around.

We will see, if he's down to 5th option guys and it's a guy who is unproven with upside I can accept it. Rather swing big and miss than not try at all.
