Nothing special to add just had the info through my relationship with Chaney since he was here in his 1st stint. Chaney is one of the few genuine guys in the coaching industry. He was loved by many VFLs and always gave off positive energy. As @butchna can attest i was on a pine conversation and showed him my proof of where my knowledge came from which was Chaney himself as well as my business partner Buck Fitzgerald. Another victory for the good guys and there are more to come. 😉😉😉

Side note: Chaney daughter and her love for equestrian life and being in vet school for playing a big part in his coming back too. They have horses in E. TN and she never wanted to leave but Botch Dummy Jones left him no choice.Go Vols
Can't wait for the victories to come. Great hire.

Thanks.
This one really has my curiosity and that's something I'm not used too. It's not a fun feeling haha. If you ever can share a detailed account or okay Butchna too, it would be appreciated.
De1 didn’t spill the entire conversation just that he talked to Chaney and he was trying to FINALIZE the deal and the main motivation was to return to Knoxville to be close to his daughter. Kirby didn’t have that card in his deck. Showed me the screenshot of Coach Chaney’s phone contact with the number blocked (not very well tho, De1. I could make it out. But I’ll never call him. How the hell would I explain who I am?). That could be faked, of course, but even tho we’ve clashed these last few years, the man has never violated confidences of his people and didn’t here when most would’ve jumped at the level of e-cred. Knew it was solid and it withstood AtlantaVol’s post about it dying as of Saturday. Man knows some people!

Cool! So Chaney’s daughter is wanting to go to vet school?

Anyhbody got any clout with Kirby??? If so, call him and mention there is an OC at Mizzou that would fit his bill perfectly! I bet he has his number, if not, he knows where to go to get it. Would that not be a hoot!!

He just followed every rumor out there.

I was surprised to see that Basilio actually seemed to have a scoop on Chaney. Basilio has had a couple zingers recently, but I think he was actually onto something.
Yeah he said during his show yesterday that Chaney would either be at Tennessee by the end of the day or he would get a big raise from UGA. He gets a lot of crap on here, but he’s been right more than people like to give him credit for.

Side note: there’s not a media member in town that does more for this community than Basilio, and it’s not even close. Just remember that next time anyone wants to give him a hard time.

There is an analyst somewhere between Bama and College Park that would be a great hire as well.

Texas Tech AD, upon hearing the news

In all fairness, recruiting players to Lubbock, Texas is a really tough sell. Especially in a state where they are competing with schools in Austin, College Station, Houston, Waco, Dallas, and Fort Worth. Kingsbury may be an excellent coach once he gets decent players, time will tell.

Larry Scott was a great offensive coordinator for the VOLS, they should hire him.

So apparently Chaney had two more years on his contract and is resigning as OC at Georgia.

Doesn’t this mean we don’t have to pay a buyout because he is resigning?

It's a personal services contract. He resigned, so GA no longer has to pay him. He can sit home and not work, if he wants to.

If he takes another job as a coach, he owes the buyout for GA's rights to his services. Whether UT reimburses him for that buyout depends on whether his contract with UT requires that.

It's funny how we all stress stability and know the importance of it after our last decade and seeing what Clemson has done. And seeing how instability can even affect a machine like bama. But still we are clamoring for 2 or even 3 more coaches to be replaced. I get the whole Tee for Weinke thing because even though I don't think Weinke's doing bad at all we all know and love Tee. But I don't even want Pittman really. At that point we'd be replacing over half our offensive staff. And in case you haven't noticed, Friend has been getting some really good OL to sign with us. And IMO did a good job with a bad situation last year. I don't think Pittman would be enough of an upgrade to offset the loss of someone else on our staff.
