So if they bring in Pittman and Friend is coaching OL...what is Pittman coaching? Two OL coaches?

For all you "Pittman's not coming!" guys, remember, Chaney wasn't coming either. If Fulmer and Pruitt can get Chaney don't think for a second they can't steal Pittman away as well.

Sounds like Tee is all but a lock to be in Knoxville as well. If they add Chaney, Pittman and Tee that would be something special on offense and in recruiting.

I'm not really a this or that is definitely gonna happen or not, but I dont see us paying over 1M for a OL coach to come here while we still have Friend on the staff. JMO

Other players balling out is what won the game yesterday. They double on Williams and take him out of scoring and others pick the slack up. Scoring doesn't seem to be a problem for this team because they share the ball so well. Continuing to play defense is going to be needed in march to win the title.

Scholfield and Williams both were sitting more than they ever have lastnight,they were crashing on both of them inside the paint.the outside shots we were hitting by sharing the ball well like you stated is what helped us open up the points margin.playing defense is a given must to win games and that’s one of the many things they do best in the country so I’m not at all worried to be honest I just want our outside game to be there for march.

Maybe, maybe not. It's going to depend on if Pittman wants to come here or not. We're not going to force him to come and way overpay but if he wants to be here and come with Chaney, they'll make it work. He's an elite recruiter, a good coach and it would be another steal from the best team in our division.

Right, thats why I'm saying he's going to have to want to leave Athens because Kirby wants to keep him. If he does, we'll pay the $1mil or whatever. He already makes $850k.

I guess the difference is that there was always a spot for Chaney. Not so much with Pittman. And Hyams never said Chaney was out.

In all fairness, recruiting players to Lubbock, Texas is a really tough sell. Especially in a state where they are competing with schools in Austin, College Station, Houston, Waco, Dallas, and Fort Worth. Kingsbury may be an excellent coach once he gets decent players, time will tell.

Fair enough. That also explains why Leach never had any success there either. And Leach had stud QBs while Kliff had to try to work with Pat Mahomes.

I agree with most of this. Just not sure I’d use the term good job in regards to our OL in any facet except recruiting right now.

Friend walked into a really crappy situation with our OL and the results weren’t good in 2018, but the jury’s still out on how well he’s doing here, IMO.

How he’s able to bring along the guys in year two and get some of the young talent we sign ready to contribute will tell us a lot more than anything we saw from that 2018 OL. Friend does have a track record of developing units to take big strides forward each season, though, so there is definitely some reason for optimism there and I agree that a change at OL coach right now most likely wouldn’t be for the best.

Considering what we had to start the year and the fact that our best player never recovered from blood clots and we lost our center very early among other injuries and we actually made some fairly significant improvements over the previous year in spite of that. I think he did a pretty good job. I don't think Pittman would've done any better last season here. My point is mainly that even if Pittman is an upgrade (which is a little debatable) I don't think he's a big enough upgrade to offset the stability keeping friend with the OL will provide.

I hope he does, but just because we hired Chaney, that doesnt automatically mean Pruitt is going to want to be completely hands off. We have seen it many times before (not necessarily from Pruitt).

I'm laughing at the post that said they ran, and occasionally passed. During last year NC game, they complained that Chaney didn't get the ball to Chubbs and Michel enough, and they were too pass heavy. Bring on Chaney.
