Question on Chaney....

Isn’t there a lot of criticism of how under used their TE, Mecole Hardman, and that 5 Star transfer from Cal was?

Fair or nah?

Fair. I watched UGA 3-4 times this year, and I felt TE’s were somewhat under utilized in the passing game. I’m sure an argument could be made for Hardman. However, one could also make the argument that it’s difficult to spread the ball around to get everyone their touches in the passing game when you have so many weapons and RBs as good as UGAs.

So it isn't fair.

Only one ball to go around

AV posted Chaney is not coming here after dude with 91 followers said Chaney was happening, maybe they have different sources. I had given up on Chaney after AVs post.
Boom on getting Chaney!!!!

I'm guessing that if we hired a complete unknown from Podunk, you could dig up someone with 91 followers who called it.

It's funny how we all stress stability and know the importance of it after our last decade and seeing what Clemson has done. And seeing how instability can even affect a machine like bama. But still we are clamoring for 2 or even 3 more coaches to be replaced. I get the whole Tee for Weinke thing because even though I don't think Weinke's doing bad at all we all know and love Tee. But I don't even want Pittman really. At that point we'd be replacing over half our offensive staff. And in case you haven't noticed, Friend has been getting some really good OL to sign with us. And IMO did a good job with a bad situation last year. I don't think Pittman would be enough of an upgrade to offset the loss of someone else on our staff.
This should be mandatory reading for VN.

When my wife asks me this afternoon what I did with my day, and I reply, “We hired Jim Chaney.” I’m just not sure she is going to share quite as much enthusiasm as Volnation

And, thank you for bringing the family to the U.S. to help make it happen @nicksjuzunk! I know you probably can't comment on flights from NY to Athens but WE know...

Chaney made money for Mychel Rivera.

i'll say this, i trust this team. nothing rattles them, and they havent looked like any stage has been too big for them, no lights too bright.

i think we present problems for most anyone we'd play, cause we can play just about whatever game you want.

the only thing that would worry me is a team that has lights out outside shooting. we do tend to give up good looks for 3, and you get a hot team on the wrong night and it could happen.

but i don't see anyone just going out and "beating" us.

we're the match up problem. and definitely one of hte top 3-4 teams in teh country right now.

looking at the schedule, the games that worry me is that last stretch of hte season is legit...@LSU, @ Ole Miss, UK, MSU, @ auburn......i think the only game we might not be favored in, right now anyways, is @ UK. and that'll be just because betting is what it is.

Our weakness will be and is a box and 1,by March if we have not figured that out yet,it will be our kryptonite two teams have used it on us already and we struggled to score,3 if you include Missouri which is why we started out sluggish.
I wish barns would implement something that would allowed our shooters to get a rythem going like for Bowden,he’s a better transition off the dribble shooter, not a spot up shooter the offense evolves to slow for him with us pounding the paint.
BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE I LOVE THIS TEAM AND I AM IN NO WAY BASHING,IF IT ISNT BROKE DONT FIX IT lol.i just us to have a outside game, our shooters to be ready and effective by March or teams will just crowd the paint.🍊

3 redzone trips with zero points and refusing to blitz Lawrence to create pressure.

I didn't think they looked terrible honestly, they were running at will, Tua went over 250, and they held Clemson's rushing game in check except for the final drive. It really was a game that was closer than the scoreboard until the 4th quarter.
People are blinded by score. It sometimes tells the whole tale, but many times it doesn't.

Other players balling out is what won the game yesterday. They double on Williams and take him out of scoring and others pick the slack up. Scoring doesn't seem to be a problem for this team because they share the ball so well. Continuing to play defense is going to be needed in march to win the title.

He looked bad last night. Which comes back to my point. He hadn’t seen a defense schemed that well against him EVER. Not even Kirby did it. I think Tua will be fine but Bama’s pass game is a slant, deep post or scramble pass. They run to set up theory plays and for the life of me, I don’t understand why they went away from it.
Great analysis..I couldn't understand why they went away from it either...Locksley had a horrible game.

Friend is Pruitt's guy, he will still coach O-Line. Chaney will be OC and coach QB's.
So if they bring in Pittman and Friend is coaching OL...what is Pittman coaching? Two OL coaches?

For all you "Pittman's not coming!" guys, remember, Chaney wasn't coming either. If Fulmer and Pruitt can get Chaney don't think for a second they can't steal Pittman away as well.

Sounds like Tee is all but a lock to be in Knoxville. If they add Chaney, Pittman and Tee that would be something special on offense and in recruiting.

I agree with most of this. Just not sure I’d use the term good job in regards to our OL in any facet except recruiting right now.

Friend walked into a really crappy situation with our OL and the results weren’t good in 2018, but the jury’s still out on how well he’s doing here, IMO.

How he’s able to bring along the guys in year two and get some of the young talent we sign ready to contribute will tell us a lot more than anything we saw from that 2018 OL. Friend does have a track record of developing units to take big strides forward each season, though, so there is definitely some reason for optimism there and I agree that a change at OL coach right now most likely wouldn’t be for the best.
