You have been more observant than me. I haven't noticed anyone running a box and one against us. Which games did you observe this? Box and ones are typically used to take one player away. Triangle and two to take two players away. As much scoring potential as we have from all the positions, I can't imagine it would be very effective. I think we do struggle against a zone at times. I think the best offense against the zone is ball movement and getting open threes and hitting them. I think how we shoot the three this year dictates how far we go. If the opponent can pack it in and limit our inside game, it falls on the three point shooters to hit open shots. Our weakness will be and is a box and 1,by March if we have not figured that out yet,it will be our kryptonite two teams have used it on us already and we struggled to score,3 if you include Missouri which is why we started out sluggish.
I wish barns would implement something that would allowed our shooters to get a rythem going like for Bowden,he’s a better transition off the dribble shooter, not a spot up shooter the offense evolves to slow for him with us pounding the paint.
BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE I LOVE THIS TEAM AND I AM IN NO WAY BASHING,IF IT ISNT BROKE DONT FIX IT lol.i just us to have a outside game, our shooters to be ready and effective by March or teams will just crowd the paint.![]()
for me i think the best thing about last night was two things....we took a solid punch in the face from a conference team on their court and didn't blink.Lol it’s ok a Box in 1 is basically 4 in the paint 2 at both side of the free throw line,2 at the lower boxes under the rim and 1 outside guarding the point guard it’s a shooters dream to see that, other teams see admiral and grant as our work horses and they are but in March they will take on double teams and as you seen lastnight they struggled until our 3 ball opened up.i only speaking highly of Bowden a lot because I went to school with him and witnessed how much better he was in transition shooting to get a rhythm going for him to shoot lights out (klay Thompson) like..not a spot up/set shooter waiting for the offense to develop like barns has built around admiral and grant.

yeah, i saw that last week. just failed to even mention it.
What's it say?

Grant Williams was a non factor as a scorer.
and we still won by 24.
this team dictates to the opponent. that's what i like about it.

He's trolling me. I would hit the ignore button on him if I were you. His post are not worth dirt most of the time.Kyle in SEC play thus far looks like a good 5! But I feel you, one reason I'm excited to see DJ next season, he's a true 5...and he's got a full year to RS and get conditioned to be ready to step in next season.
KA is a huge piece to our puzzle. and he has had 2 great games in the last week. i though he was a monster last night.Kyle in SEC play thus far looks like a good 5! totally agree, and it has not been mentioned enough. he went guard heavy with bowden, bone and turner all on the floor at the same time, which is a wya different look than we've seen so far this season....and it was fun to watch them all play, and play well.Coaching 100%
When he changed the lineup to include Bowden and Turner it was over.
Drew everything out of the paint and Alexander became a force.
Rick Barnes sat his two best players for the majority of first half. Went from 9 down to up 11 at halftime.
Probably a 1-2-2 zone. A box and one you have one guy play man to man on the opposing team's best player and the other four play a zone. Same with a triangle and two except you have two players playing man to man and three playing a triangle zone.I guess the better way to put it is a zone.i call it a box in 1 because when I watched them they had 4 guys at each box or just crowded the paint and I assumed that what they was running, but calling it a zone would be a little more accurate so to speak, definitely! if the 3 ball isn’t there to open up the paint by March that’s how we will lose but it will be a fight to the end I agree.
