KA is a huge piece to our puzzle. and he has had 2 great games in the last week. i though he was a monster last night.

he at least gives us the length to rim protect, and he's effective around the glass rebounding, 2nd chance attempts and that nice little jumper. so he can score, he's not just a "defensive body".

but as we've seen he's susceptible to being out physicalled and can get his shots blocked. that hook is no good lol. but he's playing a lot stronger around the rim than he did last year.
17 rebounds. Me like it a lot.

You rated Chaney a 7? Come on man that is dumb. He is a solid 8.5 to 9, maybe even 10.
Here is what's even better. Many of the coordinators that were out there are now locked up. So this can be a double whammy for Georgia. Lose a high level coordinator and it's later in the offseason. I know an offensive analyst that would be a great hire for them.

All valid points!..I guess I’m just a worry worrier Because I know they are championship worthy, this team stands the best chance to win a natty and bring it home for the good fellas,if duke gets knocked out some how then we stand the best chance that’s the only team that worries me.
i know. i told my wife this morning, "this team is really really good, like final four good" and she was like "really?"

i said, "yeah, really......they're so good, i'm waiting on the other shoe to drop, cause sure tennessee isn't supposed to be this good at anything anymore, im just waiting for the nut kick"...she just laughed.

but yeah, this team is freaking good. i'm excited about it. i don't want to get too far ahead of myself though. we're 2 games in to the conf schedule. 2 months of bball left to play. i just want to enjoy watching them and see how it shakes out as we go. the journey is fun, and it's a lot more fun if you don't worry about the destination the whole time.

Kyle is playing more like a 5 this year. I have to give him credit. Still wish he had a few more ponds on his frame.

He is such a hustle guy I'm not surprised it's hard to add weight. he has also gained 2-3 inches of height while here. But still is only 215 or so...DJ & Walker are a lot bigger frames, and those 2 will see lots of minutes the next 2 years together. DJ is 270s right now, they probably want to get him into the 250s but he's still a big fellow even at that weight lol They also have another big in Kent just a RS Freshman, he'll work in more once Fulkerson graduates I'm sure.

For me the really scary thing is that we only have 4 seniors on this team...and our first 5 star under Barnes is coming next year.

You have been more observant than me. I haven't noticed anyone running a box and one against us. Which games did you observe this? Box and ones are typically used to take one player away. Triangle and two to take two players away. As much scoring potential as we have from all the positions, I can't imagine it would be very effective. I think we do struggle against a zone at times. I think the best offense against the zone is ball movement and getting open threes and hitting them. I think how we shoot the three this year dictates how far we go. If the opponent can pack it in and limit our inside game, it falls on the three point shooters to hit open shots.
I am going to side with Invol here. I don't recall seeing those defenses. I could be wrong though

To be fair, if KA had Grant's post scoring he'd be in the NBA already be in the league.

It'll be Coley most likely, dude is Co-coordinator and QB coach and was coordinator at Miami a couple years ago

Hot take on how to defend our hoops team

I would allow grant to get his. I woudnt double him and gladly give him 25, I wouldn't let him shred the double team with his great passing and get the rest of the roster going with easy baskets. I'd do my best to make it the grant williams show

Bowden is balling man! He coulda went for almost 30 had his 3 ball been falling. That game was "ugly" because it's how Mizzou/Martin want to play. The refs being so whistle happy early also didn't help, the thing about Bowden for me that's really impressed is he's not forcing it anymore and he is lights out at the line. A guy with that kind of talent shooting willing to run, play defense, and go aggressive at the rim ALSO shooting 6-6 at the line is not a guy you want to leave roaming with your 3rd best defender on him.

Cause Bone/Admiral will make you pay if you're not willing to put your best guys on them. Admiral had an "off" night and still went for 14 with 9 boards :-O

Man I’m so proud of Jordy!....hometown kid from my high school playing for the flagship state university! He could go 0 for 15 and I’d still be proud of him.jordan loves this state and the university,I just hate seeing the flak he gets on here sometimes is all.you would see a different Jordan if the offense was tweaked a little for a shooter to get in rhythm.jordan has gotten better he’s way more mature with the ball this year,I’ll never forget embarrassing myself at hooters fist pumping and beating my chest when he came up clutch towards the end of the Gonzaga game I was so happy.

Best part about this group of BasketVols, one thing I've noticed as a big time difference between our other good/great teams. They legit are focusing on playing better than one team, and that's themselves. I think people outside of sports who haven't played don't get how important that is. A team that's simply trying to out play what they did the last time they were on the court doesn't need any outside motivation. They will play hard/hungry in every single matchup regardless of opponent.

It means when you sub in the 2nd string guys they are still going hard at Georgia or Tennessee Tech. That's the most impressive thing to me, they LOVE seeing each other succeed and they ALL are pushing to be better individually as well as a team.

His Miami offenses were pretty bad and got worse every year he was there. They were really bad his last year. I know he can recruit, but I'm not sure he is a good coordinator. He wasnt going to call plays at A&M.

In today’s game, frame/mass is diminished. He’s perfect for what you want. His post defense, reach on blocking shots and rebounds, and low post scoring abilities are a perfect fit for this team especially.

Haha!..that’s awesome and to beat it all she knows what you’re talking about that’s super cool.would you put this team up against the team that beat Memphis when they were number 1?!👀 nobody on here has asked that question yet.

I WANT to see that game, the first team that legit tries to play us Man to Man better have some big time talent. Grant will get his obviously, Admiral, Bone, Bowden will eat up 1 on 1 and then you'll allow Kyle/Grant to crash the boards without an extra defender to box them out? YES PLEASE.

Honestly I think a team that can force UT to live/die by the 3 ball and NOT foul will be the tougher defense. Most our guys can shoot a good 3 ball though, but it's not something they all seem willing to do and catch and shoot is about that Lofton mindset, no hesitation. I'm open, I'm shooting....I've yet to see anyone just do that yet, I expect Turner/Bowden to get more and more comfortable with it though as the season progresses.
