It's the same thing with UF in football too theyve been good but too many TN teams that have been better have lost to them. The moment is just too big every time for whatever reason
Is the fact we have such a huge fanbase, which creates an amazing atmosphere, but is too much pressure to perform in those situations, what causes the moment to be too big?

This is what I was worried about at the beginning of the year - meeting expectations.

To me, a great year is not special if you don’t win a title.

Sure. They won a lot of games. Broke records. Were ranked No. 1.

But yesterday means nothing without championship to secure a legacy.

If you ask this team they will tell you they fell short of expectations.

That’s disappointing.
Once you get wins, the new metric becomes titles.

Regular season & tournaments.

We've frankly fallen short.

Missed on our last 3 reachable opportunities (last season SEC tournament, this season regular season title, & this year SEC tournament).

We have a great team, but they are no where near good enough to just show up unfocused against good teams and win...Weird game, but that is just how basketball is.

I hate it for these guys, they had a chance to do something really memorable and forgot to show up. I still love them, and I always will, but I doubt we get past the sweet 16. I understand the adrenaline crash post UK, especially how they won, but this is just a major major disappointment.

This group of upper classmen Juniors & Seniors have built a great foundation for Vols Basketball. Will be a SEC Championship contender every season moving forward and will be elevated in recruiting.

I really want them to win & hang a banner though, because these are the types of young men who do it the right way and deserve it.

Auburn is a terrible matchup for us. Other teams match up better against Auburn. Auburn will probably have a challenging game on day one. It wouldn't surprise me if they got beat.
It is a bad matchup, but they should destroy them...I hate teams like AU. They are just a good team overall, but can get hot enough to beat anybody having an off day.

I had to record the game so I waited until I could watch it all before I came on. When through most of second half cause I saw what was coming. We all have seen this a hundred times. You play an emotional, intense game the day before and come out the next day with an empty tank. As good as they played yesterday, they played just as bad today. Whole different team out there today. Never seen so many silly, boneheaded, High School ball handling as I saw in this game. You only get so many chances at Championship games and as much as I love these guys today they had nothing. Hands on hips and heads down. Never a good sign. Disappointed that we couldn't match the intensity that AU had.

Us turning it over I agree with that was uncharacteristic but teams do make a lot of threes against us
Yes but usually not 15. If we cut those 20 turnovers in half that anywhere from 0-30 possible points. Then we play the straight out instead of having to put them on the ft line. I believe in this team and the staff. A ticked off team going into the big dance could be a good thing.

Let's face it.

Auburn would probably beat Tennessee 8 or 9 out of 10 times. Pearl just owns Rick Barnes.

This NCAA tourney is what it always is: ALL about matchups.

UT could get beat in the first round with wrong matchup or could make a run to the Final 4. The same thing could happen with Auburn too.
You’re wrong

If I had the answer to that question I would have a lot more money. But lets look at it this way when these guys got to campus TN wasn't at a championship level in any of the major sports on campus. Barnes has gotten closest first. Now imagine being a 21 or 22 year old kid walking around campus hearing from everyone how big winning a Championship would be. Now you get into that spot and all of the sudden bam the game becomes bigger than it is you play to tight then things start going bad and its here we go again. Until you get there consistently and it becomes an expectation not a goal then it gets easier. Auburn had nothing to lose today it was just another game to them. For TN they had everything to lose and then some and it showed

I think that was probably their thinking today. We beat UK, downhill from here. Not sure why we would think that since they beat us just a few days ago.

I would love to come here at the first of April and eat crow. I just don't see it i think the pressure gets to them in,the big dance. If the moment of the sec title game is too big an elite 8 game against UVA is like a nuclear bomb going off

We’ve lost 5 games all year, that’s pretty darn consistent lmao
To be honest, not really.

We played poorly against Florida in Gainesville, Alabama, Vanderbilt both games, first game against Kentucky, against ole Miss, and Auburn today.

We out talent most of the teams on our schedule. And when you sit at #1 for weeks, you get everyone's best.

Yes we won. But don't act like we've played OUR style and dominated games the way we should consistently.

This team is phenomenal. They have heart and skill.

They just don't have everyone show up every time out.

This is my favorite UT team of all time.

Don't get that misconstrued.

We've witnessed the best run of all time with the streak at #1, the 19 games in a row, knocking off #1 team in country.

We all know that they have more in them though.

Our team's play yesterday would run laps around what we brought out today.

Lol. What a bunch of bums. They never win anything that matters.

At least it’s almost over.

They prob lose 2nd round. Fine with that. Bring on Football.

Another season of this pathetic, horrid sport almost in the books.
