Basically every unit on our team was exposed in those games. The LBs played solid ball in spurts (like the DL did). They were exposed in games we played against good Sr QBs and Tua. They held up pretty good against the run in some other games. Our ILBs had some bad games, but other units on our team had bad games every game. It's not like the DL returns anybody who played well in those games.

At least the ILBs have a year game of experience each. If Bituli and Ignont take modest steps forward and we can find decent rotational play from 1-2 of To'oto'o, Crouch, Reid, or JJP, then we could see solid enough play from them. However, DL is only returning 1 known quantity in Taylor and they need to scrounge together 6-8 guys who can give us SEC level DL play. I'll feel better about the DL if or when Solomon declared eligible and Savion Williams starts turning heads in fall camp. Until then, there's no reason to expect our DL to give us more than the ILBs will.

Basically i don’t expect our ILBs to get much better. We’ve seen them play a lot of snaps. They are pretty much what they are at this point imo.

If the incoming freshman don’t play a lot then that’s alarming IMO.

I don't know that I fully agree, mainly because Bituli had just moved inside to play ILB last year and it was his & Kirkland's first time playing ILB for a 3-4. Both were originally recruited as 4-3 LBs which is a different type of play style.

So really, to me at least this will be the year where we'll know if existing guys have it or not, since last year they had a lot thrown at them and may have still been playing slow because of it (especially considering they were still hitting the weights hard during the season)

IDT any coach should get an automatic five years. I think you take it year-by-year. You know upfront that a staff is going to need a couple of years to change the complexion of the team and put in their foundation. You expect growing pains. But you can also find out that some coaches aren't the right hire. Dooley, Butch, Holly-- all coaches UT kept too long hoping, against evidence to the contrary, that they could become something they weren't.

VN posters waiting for a PWO to be All-SEC...

Not sure why you would think anyone here thinks our PWO will be all-SEC. It's great we have an influx of PWO who had offers from smaller schools. Most people are just glad because it will bring a little better competition in practice.

Kroger does a great sub also. Not Jersey-Mike great, but again, much better than Subway.
Didn’t initially care too much about Jersey Mike’s. Since I discovered the regular Original Italian on white done Mike’s Way, it shot up to the top of the rankings.

Les Miles (Twice)

Gus Malzahn (Twice)

All managed to do it...5 times in Saban's 12 years at Bama he didn't make the championship game. I mean it's not impossible....
Yeah, he should have been able to do it at least once to achieve the legendary status he has reached.

I agree with this, but you also have to keep in mind where the program was when Pruitt took over..... I mean they didn't even have a weight room.

Any sane person would be.

Barnes is quick as a whip himself, our media ask some of the dumbest questions to these guys I'm not surprised. I'd rather hear the sharp witted jabs/ribs over the used car salesman anyway.

I tend to feel like if someone is willing to be sarcastic and make light of a dumb question they generally care more than someone who pulls out the "energy vampire" and "5 star heart" type of stupid responses.

Five years should be earned-- not guaranteed. I think Pruitt would agree with that. He doesn't think it's going to take five years to get UT competitive in the division. His goals are more aggressive than that.

Not sure what you mean about no weight room. UT had a workout/weight room that had just been remodeled to the previous staff's specs. It had weights as well as other equipment. The new staff wanted a new floor, new lighting, no mirrors and custom-made Sorinex equipment. UT went from new school to old school workouts at a cost of more more than $1 mil over a couple of years. UT always had excellent facilities-- the discipline and S&C programs between the staffs are just worlds apart.

Strongly disagree that the existing ILBs won't get any better. I would expect Bituli and Ignont to be better in the 2nd year of a new defense they were just learning last year. Not sure what to expect from Reid, but I have been encouraged by the off season transformation of his body and some of the initial reports from practice. I also expect Henry T and Q to get many snaps as well. Just not sure if it will be OLB or ILB or both.

DL is a much bigger worry IMO.

I'm a Bible thumper, and I do not believe in legislating morality...in fact I detest it. It serves God no purpose, and only makes my job harder as it has created a deep resentment. "Religious" has become a dirty word to the majority of people IMO.

I also know that I am in a minority amongst my brethren, and my views cause me to get a lot of grief amongst some of my peers, but it is something I feel very strongly about...Freedom to make personal choices.

"They say there are strangers, who threaten us
In our immigrants and infidels
They say there is strangeness, too dangerous
In our theatres and bookstore shelves
Those who know what’s best for us
Must rise and save us from ourselves
Quick to judge,
Quick to anger
Slow to understand
Ignorance and prejudice
And fear
Walk hand in hand"

We'll know it when we see it.

2018 is far too early to pass any judgement at least in a negative direction for CJP. Kinda weird to say, because IMO he deserves a ton of credit for Auburn and even Kentucky. We just flat ran out of gas against Mizzou and Vandy.

2019 can be promising but will still have a fair share of frustrations, because we're weak/shallow along both lines.

2020 should see us take a step forward, but then in 2021, we'll be replacing JG (some will cheer) so I assume our offense will take at least a slight step backwards. I can see us going like, 10-2 in 2020, and 8-4 in 2021.

Go 8-4 in 2021 after what's hopefully a pretty good 2020, and we'll be okay. It'll probably be frustrating to the most extreme in the fanbase, but it still means we're not losing to Vandy, Kentucky, Mizzou, or Carolina.. which is something we could only dream of saying for the better part of the decade.

If we see a collapse in 2021 (like 2017), or if by then no progress has been made in our ability to challenge or beat Florida/Georgia/Bama, then unfortunately it might be time to try someone new.

I'm not alone in the faith I currently have in CJP&Co.. we've had a taste of gimmicks and false hope; talkers and cons; we can now differentiate between a guy who actually knows what he's doing and a guy who's faking it til he's making it. We're in the toughest conference, and the East has gotten a lot better in just the last couple of years. CJP is inexperienced as a HC, and he's going to make mistakes. I'm down for at least 4 years, and it's looking like his stay will be a bit longer if we're lucky.

Sorry! I was trying to be funny about someone saying we acted like they didn't have a weight room before Pruitt got here.
