So with the recent decommit does that mean Tee Hodge is back in the fold? Only thing I can think of that would cause the situation. That or we are in on another better RB.

The bagman is over rated, imo. All big time programs are paying. That puts in squarely back at the the three things that recruits are looking at: playing time, ability to win a championship, and path to NFL.

But our network has been down for some time. Weak leadership and networking. We have to get this back on point first and foremost. If you are anyone with free time on your hands and/or donations to spare - spend it with our network, not the utad. They are fine, but the vol network really needs it more.

And why worry? We can't change it at all. I get that we all want to excel and recruiting discussions are why we're here, but I don't get all the hand-wringing. Ob la di. Ob la da.

Because if we stop going to games and get out the pitchforks, then that will clearly wake up the elite in their ivory towers - guys like Phil and others just skating by off their sweet, sweet AD parachutes just waiting for retirement.

Or something like that.

Haven’t gotten to watch a lot of the playoffs this year outside of a few GS vs. HOU games but I will be glued to the TV for GS vs Milwaukee. That should be a really good series.

What a strange strange time we live in when the likes of Milwuakee and Toronto are battling it out for a conference championship. If anyone had told me that 5 years ago I would have laughed in their face.

You don't need Top 10 talent to win 10 games counting a bowl. Kentucky says "hi". Top 20 roster talent works just fine. You need players with strong desires to win, development, depth, sound schemes/game plans that utilize strengths and minimize weaknesses - to go with a reasonable schedule that matches the roster talent well.

Like many have posted, let's walk first. If they are fortunate and start running quicker, great. But let's be happy as fans with steady improvement that trends toward the best. I could care less on who they miss on in recruiting. I care about who wants to be a Vol and actually signs.

Kentucky last year was no more than a much more extreme version of us in 2015-2016. It was a blip on the radar. UK in no way built a permenant base for success. They got lucky on a few great defensive talents and Snell. But their schemes are not something that will carry them forward. You need a competitive advantage (scheme, recruiting, development, etc) to keep that going. I could care less about getting 10 wins once a decade. We need something that lasts.

A truly great offensive or defensive mind can get production out of really anything. This year is a big year for him.

Indeed. Article was a bit confusing. He starts off by saying Pruitt's calling card and why he can bring us back is his elite defensive playcalling/coaching. Then the writer jumps from this to actually it is talent evaluation and that is what the title was about.

Jmo but his biggest attribute coming in were his renowned defenses. That should carry over regardless of talent (in context, of course). And with better defense, we should theoretically win more games, AOTBE, and thus lead to recruiting better, which is ultimately what the writer seemed concerned with.

It's no big secret we have to win first, but I was always sold on this staff being those legit Xs and Os types, not snake oil salesmen. Hope they prove it over the next 2 years, not that my expectations/standard is very high anyway. Bowl game this year, 7-9 reg season wins next year. 2 more top 15 classes. Then we will see in 2021/22 if they can break open the doors. But I am settled in for the Pruitt and Big Phil era. If I can't believe in those 2, then who can I?

104 days until we can stop worrying about worthless verbal commitments & focus more on us winning every game by 600 points going undefeated.

Thank god. Just inception me until then. I thought this place might be calm during the dead season, but the lemurs have made it more active than ever. All this ad traffic from the lack of commits is just going toward buying another superyacht for Freak. Better be invited to his next playboy party.

I don't disagree. I think our cheat game has a lot to catch up on. However, I think the gap is narrowing. I think if two teams want a player badly, it doesn't come down to money as often as you think.
