The Rommel analogy was only a bad one because most people are too dumb to know what he was talking about, and it went over most peoples heads. Some of the gripes about that quote were hilarious because it showed how stupid people were. Ignorance itself is not stupidity, arrogant ignorance is. Dools sucked at coaching, but he is not a stupid man.
Actually, that’s what makes him dumb. He’s in the business of coaching and management but lacks people smarts. No one wants to be led by a know it all jackass. That’s what Dooley was and why he sucks at his job. He should’ve stuck with law.

It makes him Ill suited for coaching, but he is not dumb. He is who he is...a know it all jackass. And you are right, people don't want to follow that.

As wide receivers. That Pruitt has them performing functionally as SEC corners as true freshmen deserves credit...for them and him.
Agreed. Credit is most definitely due.

If we want to get specific, I believe both were recruited as Athletes.

Dooley's a pretty entertaining guy to talk to-- just not a good SEC HC. Wonder if he has aspirations of working his way back to HC at a smaller school or if he's just marking time till early retirement?
I don't know why he hasn't really tried to get into broadcasting. Maybe the guy spoke true from his heart when he talked about why he left the Law profession to be a unpaid assistant coach. Maybe he really just loves football, and being part of a football team.

Dooley would make a great AD. He basically laid all the blueprints and plans for our indoor complex which is probably the best in the nation.

I knew what he was talking about and it was odd. It was random, out of place...and odd.

LOL. Not wanting to #bringbackDooley but of UT's ignominious cast of characters over the last decade, I'd rather spend time with Dooley than Hammy, Kiffin, Hart, Butch, Currie or DiPietro-- and it's not even close. And I agree-- he's a good facilities guy and probably would be a good fundraiser. Just not a good HC at a school like UT.

What are you trying to say about sticking with the law?

And the fact that you used "ignominious cast of characters" in a sentence gently suggests why you feel that way. ;)

Is it just me, or did Pruitt seem extra surly in today's press conference? He must really hate having to answer the same stupid questions week after week.

My impression was he exhibited signs of significant fatigue. I've been there a few times in years past. I think he needs some rest. He's not going to be satisfied until he's got this team playing at a very high level. I have no idea what kind of hours he's working or what all he's having to deal with but I figure Fulmer will keep an eye on him so while I might otherwise be a bit concerned I think we'll be okay. Fatigue can be counterproductive in all kinds of ways.

Yeah I agree, a very intelligent guy, just wasn't meant to lead us at that point... He would probably be a very good AD.
