Littrell could be for real. Turned down the Kansas State job so he has higher end goals. In my burg, and it’s a great atmosphere in Denton. Somebody Google the Mason Fine story if you dig college football...beats Rudy to ****. Babers is legit. Keep seeing Doug Marrone’s name floated and Babers outcoached him with the players he left behind. No one else came closer than Syracuse at beating Clemson last year. Harsin is another meh from the Boise State coaching assembly line of which Peterson was the only true star.
Babers is a really good coach

I still think we were probably rotating too much. There are several guys on a defense that can play a string of plays in a row. The other issue with our team is that the entire front seven (without Bituli) except Darrell Taylor are first time starters/contributors. Then, Burrell and Flowers are basically new too (Flowers got injured early last year). We were doing alot of rotation with guys who are still learning. Simplify it and keep your veterans out there.
Everything you say I agree are real and valid concerns, I guess I am just at a place where my thinking is that in no universe should these things be an acceptable explanation for losing to Georgia State. Above all else, we got beat for lack of effort, from the top to the bottom.

No need for negative recruiting. Recruits read social media and VN. They group text posts. Other coaches can't believe their luck.
Idk about the general threads on here but no way they don't see Twitter. This is on the coaches not the fans... but I'll be damned if we won't do anything possible to make it worse.

People are getting way too caught up in VQ. Right now, they're angry fans, with an emotional response. They're upset and venting, especially Austin. And that's fine, but emotions don't fix problems. Let's see what UT can do. Give people who're paid to fix problems a week to see what can be fixed short-term. BYU isn't an unbeatable team.

I listened to every bit of it. I highly recommend it to everyone. I like you LA but I'm not on your side on this. I wished the whole team including the staff would be required to listen to this. I want them to choke on it. If you want to do something about it do something about it. If it pisses you off - great. I want somebody over there to get pissed. I am flabbergasted that our solution appears to be to coddle a man we are paying 4 fricking million dollars a year to. He's not frickin' 5 years old even if he does act like it. jmo.

I was thinking last night about Pruitt's resume and what warranted him to be the head football coach at the university of Tennessee. This is what I came up with:

DC at Alabama, GA, and FSU. So he coached 4-5 stars to be good defenses. At Alabama he coordinated one year behind Kirby and basically took a Ferrari on cruise control down the highway without changing lanes. Similar at FSU and Georgia. Never staying long enough to develope his own players into a defense. Sal Sunseri could probably had similar results. He's never really had to do more with less. He's never really had to coach up lower ranked players.

Recruiting. He was known as a great recruiter at all three of his stops. But think about it.... how hard is it to recruit at any of those three stops? Alabama turns away many players that we'd consider huge gets. Recruiting at any of those schools is not a difficult job but you just about have to screw up to not land top 2-3 classes. @Catbone could win recruiter of the year awards there.

Other than those things I'm not sure what he's got. He's never been even a head coach at the high school level let alone at the college level. Really not sure why we find ourselves with him at the helm.

The problem with this is that Kirby Smart, Lincoln Riley, Dabo Sweeney, and now Ryan Day have very similar resumes. Actually, Dabo was never even a coordinator. Smart was basically with Saban his whole career. Riley was only an OC at East Carolina before being the OC at OU. Day was the OC at Temple and BC before being a QB coach in the NFL.

Pruitt probably has better college experience than 3 of those guys listed above before they got their current jobs.

The coach hiring landscape has changed, and UT won't be able to hire a veteran coach unless he just falls into their lap (like Rick Barnes). UT will have to hire an up and comer, and the person who hires must make the correct decision.

We are fans. You want us to pretend to be happy after the most embarrassing loss in program history?
Yeah it’s comical to think we’re hurting recruiting any more than the actual team that, ya know, **** the bed on Saturday.

This idea that recruits are stupid and only see issues if fans point them out is nonsense. In fact, they likely see the issues before we do.

Plus Twitter and Insta >>>>>>>>>>>>> message boards. Most high school kids don't even know what message boards are. They may get directed here by Googling themselves and finding their own threads.

yeah. there was no way the fall out from Satruday wouldn't be bad. a) media was going to poke and prod UT to the Nth degree b)fans were justifiably pissed, and would not be shy about it on social media. c) rival fans will have a field day with ALL OF IT.

inevitable i guess.

it did occurr to me though............what if TN fans just went silent?

no vol twitter. no body posting here or on VQ, no body calling radio shows............just dead calm quiet.

i would imagine the silence would be deafening. pretty much how i felt all weekend. haven't felt "up to it" as far as talking about, hearing about, or reading about TN football til today, and even now, i'm just dipping my toes int he water.

just really really "meh" right now.
