There's little certainty in recruiting. People hear things. Players talk. Peer-to-peer recruiting plants seeds. The coaches know the kind of players they're looking for and the positions they need filled. But it's always going to be about timing and opportunities and the ability to offer what a good player wants in a competitive landscape. Some coaches hate this. Others approach it as a strategy for building faster.

I hope we’re the “others” and not the “some.”

We could steal “My old Kentucky Home” since we travel so well there.

“Oh, the sun shines bright
On my old Kentucky home
'Tis summer,
The old folks are gay
Well, the corn top's ripe

By 'n by hard times will
A-come a-knockin' at my door
Then my old Kentucky home
Good night”

Kinda works.
Knock ✊knock ✊ 😈

Heupel has to play him. That’s a good way to lose the team by not playing a senior leader who has been cleared after he’s already missed 2 games.

I say make him a captain. Let him walk to midfield with a bloodied hand in dark mode for intimidation.

Are these NIL deals structured by written contract? We should see some offers leak if so. Curious to read the terms

Terms:

Employee agrees to show up whenever he wants and must smile a lot when he does, but doesn't have to say or do anything and gets to take naps while on the clock.
Employer compensates employee as if employer is Elon Musk.

Stargazers getting scared. Their argument has been "No team can have a chance at the playoff without a roster full to the rim with 4-5-stars." Now we're looking at UT with a chance at the playoff without being full of blue-chip talent.

We all know that UT is going to stay successful for some time. The only way to save the blue-chip recruiting ranking lovefest is for UT to be loading up on blue-chip talent. Can't have our success continuing with less than top-3 classes.

Laws no. That'd be catastrophic.
That was very...reductive..

while the staff has done a good job developing what they’ve got and escaping a few teams with a mostly senior group of players, when we get more talent it’ll allow for bigger margins. We lose alot of experience next year and without some talent injected into the program we’ll fall backwards a good bit. We see it every year with teams that aren’t in the top 10 of rosters. Get a senior heavy group have a great season, most leave and the next year they take a sizable step back. But Tennessee’s done well in the 23’ class the average rating is 90.62 which is enough to string together a good roster. It’ll be a nice launch pad to keep building the program and it’ll allow for the margin of error to get bigger for the program
I personally do not want to be like LSU after 2019....of course we probably won't be because Heupel is THE guy here, so it won't be like figurehead Ogre losing both his coordinators AND most of their high level talent after 2019.

Train of thought post...🤔

In nine plus seasons at Kentucky, Stoops has just two (2) wins vs SEC teams that finished with a winning record in league play (2018 Florida, 2017 South Carolina).

Entering 2022, Stoops was just 19-46 vs FBS teams that finished .500 or better. He’s 40-7 in all other games.

The 2022 Cats come to Knoxville 5-2 (2-2 SEC) and ranked 19th. They’re coming off a bye, but Stoops is just 5-7 coming off in-season byes. Three of those wins were vs vAndy and another was vs Arkansas’ 2-10 team in 2019. In those 12 games, Stoops is just 3-9 against the spread and has failed to cover the last six.

The only reason Ga has a chance against us next week is because of talent. If we had equal talent to Ga this game would not be competitive. Kirby isn’t out coaching anyone.

We have the coach. Get us the talent and see what happens.

The only person whining is Newt.

We have a good class. We all want a great class. Landing Hobbs and Ramil will certainly get us down that pathway.

Some of us are just surprised that our year isn’t having more of an effect on some uncommitted prospects and also prospects who are committed to crappy schools like NC, Memphis, FSU, AU, and some others. That’s not difficult to understand.

Thankfully ‘24 is going to be a tremendous class barring something crazy happening.

We were lead to believe that by Volquest. I remember AP saying a gajillion of 4⭐️ to 5⭐️ loved our big Volopolozoa during the summer and many were ready to commit, but wanted to let the season play out.

Well the season is playing out perfectly and yet...
