In the history of the playoffs only 2 teams have made it that weren’t top 10 in talent rankings: Cincy and MSU. And both of those teams were reminded very quickly of the difference in talent.

If we win the national title it will be the first team to ever do it ranked as low in talent as we are. And the majority of the players we are depending on are 4 and 5 star guys I remind you.

But let’s go deeper. Do you believe Heup would’ve won a real national title at UCF? If you say yes you’re lying. And you know it.

Heupel is the best offensive coach in college football and there’s no denying it. What he’s doing is extraordinary. But to sustain it, we will have to get and keep developing talent. Ga is good because of talent not Kirby. We may beat them still this year. But do we want to beat them next year and the next and the next?

Arguing that we don’t need talent is nonsensical. Heup isn’t winning anything at Vandy.
I rest my case. Scared to death UT's success will show the fallacious argument that recruiting ranking services dictate football success.

And you do yourself a disservice with straw men like:

Arguing that we don’t need talent...

No one is arguing that talent isn't needed. You're just arguing that the only measure and source of talent is the ranking services.

You deserve so many more tazings than you've gotten.

Listening to Josh Pates Upset Alert show. He does have UT vs UK on there but says:

- Confidence level is a 5. He didn’t explain his levels so I’m not sure exactly what this means and if it’s out of 10 levels, 5 being worst or best, etc. I haven’t listened to his upset shows before so maybe someone has some details on that.

- He thinks that if the UGA game wasn’t next weekend that the line for this game would be UT -14 or more. Thinks that the numbers from Vegas reflects a trap game but doesn’t think UT will get caught looking ahead. UT wins but could struggle. Line could go higher day before (today) or morning of.

- Says UK run the fewest plays per game in the country, while UT runs the 5th most. Whose style takes over early?

- UK has 14th best pass defense in the nation but then goes on to compare the situation to Ohio State of “But who have they played?” Was nice to hear him dog that stat and Ohio States stat on that a bit. He also mentions that top 5 pass defense is one thing but there’s a freeze point that UK doesn’t meet to really be able to handle UT passing offense. He thinks UT will throw the ball on the UK secondary, especially if UK can’t get a pass rush.

Wouldn't worry much about recruiting right now. UT is keeping powder dry for the portal. Portal shopping with NIL money adds a new layer to recruiting. UT has had more luck than not with portal players, and we will have good opportunities to add experience at key positions.
BOOM, perfect. We need to get another McCoy level offensive transfer, and a Jared Verse level defensive transfer. Apparently the portal is going to be even more wild this year so we should have even more opportunity

Straight from the horses mouth:

If you want to know why Georgia football is a 22.5-point favorite over Florida on Saturday, you only need to look back to the closing remarks made by Kirby Smart after last year’s 34-7 win over the Gators.

“If you don’t recruit, there’s no coach out there that can out-coach recruiting,” Smart said last season. “I don’t care who you are. The best coach to ever play the game better be a good recruiter because no coaching is going to out-coach players. Anybody will tell you that our defense is good because we have good players.”

Cormani McClain decision puts greater microscope on Georgia football-Florida recruiting gap

We have a great NIL program. I don't think it's the lack of a billionaire with a blank checkbook. I think fans that follow this kind of stuff are 1) disappointed that we don't have more participation than Florida has in theirs, 2) somewhat surprised that we aren't in the top 1-2 strictly because of fan involvement/support.

No one can question that our fanbase is unrivaled in dedication and support going back however many years. Maybe except for Nebraska. We finally have a way to quantify (monetize) that support and the NIL membership didn't take off like it could have. It will reach its potential in time, I believe.

Our head coach and staff are incredible. They are chefs making gourmet meals out of ingredients that they found in someone else's kitchen. Imagine if they had premium ingredients of their choosing.
Most Vol fans I know have no idea about Spyre or how they can get involved. The fact that our program could not direct people that way until very recently set us way behind IMO.

I also worry that DW and the other higher ups are worried about huge amounts of big donor funds being redirected from their building/remodeling projects toward player acquisition...and I understand that worry to a degree, but IF that is true, then it is shortsighted.

It all starts with the team you put on the field.

This will be a lopsided time of possession game.

We will have about 8-10 possessions and score on 6-8 of them.

Kentucky will have over 30 minutes of TOP and about 8 possessions and maybe score on 4 of them.

I really don’t think this is close. It feels like people are treating this like the lsu game- Tennessee could win but don’t be surprised if it’s close and Kentucky will cover.

I think we win by 20+

Boone is really tough this year. Greenville and Anderson County are state title favorites that are going to play in the 3rd round again. Science Hill caught them early in the season while Betsy was figuring things out. Believe it or not, this is a down Betsy team.
I do believe it. I think they won the state recently. Maybe even last year

Hopefully it works out. I'm just not sure how you can be certain who will be available. Or if you'll win the bidding war. Seems like a crap shoot.

There's little certainty in recruiting. People hear things. Players talk. Peer-to-peer recruiting plants seeds. The coaches know the kind of players they're looking for and the positions they need filled. But it's always going to be about timing and opportunities and the ability to offer what a good player wants in a competitive landscape. Some coaches hate this. Others approach it as a strategy for building faster.
