Cottonmouths have the visual acuity of about 12". They don't know what boats are, have terrible vision, and have no ears to hear talking (or screaming). They recognize an object floating in the water, and they like to bask on floating objects. They also associate those things as places fish and frogs like to hang out around. They have very strong senses of smell and could possibly investigate smells of bait or fish you've caught.

They're also inquisitive, so they'll investigate objects they don't recognize. I've stood on a bank and watched one swim directly towards me. Most would conclude that snake was "after" them. When it got close enough to make out what I was it bolted away and hid under a matte of grass.

It's all about perception and having a better understanding of these very misunderstood animals. They're never after you. But instinctual fear and lack of knowledge drives perception.
Man, you need to get your stuff straight. I have had a cottonmouth ambush me out of a sewer drain, wrap itself around my leg up to my waist, and proceed to rope a dope my ass, Muhammad Ali-style. They are mean and vicious.

I had a copperhead track me down a week after having been in the woods and kill me. Just literally bit me in my sleep and then strangled me to death for good measure. I almost didn't survive.

The fact that you still (presumably) have your testicles tells me that cottonmouth was a 2/10 on the meanness scale. Don't be so dramatic.

Squirrel and Milton next year will be the connection. No defender can run with Squirrel, all Milton has to do is throw it out there. It will be caught.
Wish we could have seen Super Hyatt and Milton. But you're right, Squirrel will be the next unstoppable slot after Velus and Hyatt.

Had a couple fighter jets flying over South Knoxville yesterday evening and this morning. I bet that's what is doing the flyover tomorrow. We had helicopters earlier in the year.

It is going to be loud. I guess all fighter jets are, but these guys were shaking the windows, should be pretty awesome.

When we played Air Force in 2006, they had jets doing flyovers all week. Campus was so loud. I thought it was pretty cool.

I was at UT-Martin, it was almost full. Tickets were sold out, but the stadium wasn't full. I'd say 90k were in the seats. And that was for a noon kick against a FCS school, Halloween weekend on a Saturday night against a ranked SEC East opponent with black out uniforms and the return of Tillman?

I expect there won't be an empty seat in the joint!

In the history of the playoffs only 2 teams have made it that weren’t top 10 in talent rankings: Cincy and MSU. And both of those teams were reminded very quickly of the difference in talent.

If we win the national title it will be the first team to ever do it ranked as low in talent as we are. And the majority of the players we are depending on are 4 and 5 star guys I remind you.
.

Agreed with this, but we are "replacing" (if that can be said) talent level with a ton of experience. How many games have has our offense started? I would say quite a few games under all of their collective belts. Same with the DL and LB corps. Not so much with the corners, but the 2 starting Safety's have a lot of experience but can really upgrade that position in the near future.

The totality of the sum of their rankings is getting offset with experience and coaching. Good for us and UT.

Not sure where I was going with this, so forgive me.

We have an Air Force base out here. It’s crazy to see one of those jets fly across the sky over your backyard. It never gets old.

On a related note—awhile back I was on a bike ride by the base on what I can only assume was training day for AWAC pilots. An AWAC plane came in low for a landing and was directly over my head when it hit the throttle to regain altitude. The sound was like a physical presence that knocked me off my bike. The pain of it was so intense that I think I clawed at the pavement trying to dig a hole to avoid it. It lasted for a few seconds but left me stunned for awhile.
I had a lot of friends who worked at the base and they weren’t impressed at all by my story. I guess it happens all the time.

Oh yeah, Kentucky. Yeah, we’re going to kill them.
