Yeah, subsonic. If they were flying full throttle, they’d scream past you and, at that altitude, probably leave you deaf. But either way, hard not to get a little emotional in a patriotic way seeing those. Every game I’ve managed to drag my dad to, he always hopes we get a flyover.

For anyone interested in just how high and fast we can go (military, not UT haha) … this jet is from the Vietnam era. It’s been decommissioned for years.

It’s capable of flying damn near Mach3, and at the edge of space around 90,000 feet. Absolutely mental we could do this in the 1960’s. Up there with the Saturn V.

I think they fly subsonic when they flyover the stadium. The window shaking is when they break the sound barrier. If they did that flying over the stadium, they’d fly past so fast that it’d be tough to see them lol. I remember the first time I heard a sonic boom from a US Fighter jet when I was a little kid. I thought it was an earthquake.
The window shaking is not when they break the sound barrier. They shake windows when they start an engine

I met a SR-71 Blackbird pilot one time that was a bad ass. His favorite song was this one, and he's convinced it was about that aircraft:

They would be doing spy missions over the USSR and the Soviets would scramble jets. They would just start going faster and climbing, and they would laugh at the Russians having to give up because they couldn't keep up or go higher lol

Just got through driving to IL to visit my grandparents. Have to take advantage of every opportunity to do stuff like this. Especially when your grandparents are in their 90s.

For everyone that will be at the game tomorrow, bring the loud for 60+ minutes. Do not let up, even when we have a huge lead. When that happens, put on more steam! Go Vols!

When my grandma was 94 and could no longer visit us, we flew up to Montreal as often as we possibly could the next 6 years. It was expensive and time consuming and as the years went on, she barely even recognized us and couldn't speak (Lewy Body Dementia). But she would always smile and nod at us.
To this day I don't regret a single trip and wish I had drained the bank account to be there more.

Enjoy your time, soak it in and go Vols!

It will he important to start the game and take the lead early so Kentucky cannot play keep away, we need to take the ball to start the game and immediately score on the opening drive
"Playing keepaway" will look like this for UK:

They get the ball first, chew up six minutes of clock. Field goal.
We get the ball. Score a touchdown in three plays. 7-3 7 minutes left in Q1.
They get the ball. Use three minutes. Punt. 7-3 with around 4 minutes left in Q1.
We get the ball. A minute and a half and it's 14-3 with just over 2 minutes left in Q1.
They get the ball. Use seven minutes and three 4th down attempts. 14-6 with around 10 minutes left in Q2.
We get the ball. Three minute drive. 21-6, 7 minutes left in Q2.

They get the ball, the coaches having begun to panic, and abandon the run about this point in the game. They finally enter the footrace with UT after having spotted our offense a couple of touchdown lead. Eventually the game ends about 70-17, and Levis had more sacks than we had TDs. (Look at that score again. We had several.)

Stoops goes back to picking on South Carolina's coach. I mean, they beat UK too, but it's been a minute and Beemer is a much easier target than what UT just did to them.
