I mean, if we finish with a top ten class for ‘23, and seem to be trending for an even better ‘24 and beyond … is that not the exact trajectory we have all been hoping for for years?!

Added to exciting results on the field and a pretty decent path to end up in the CFB PLAYOFFS…

Can’t believe people are still moping around with the “what’s wrong with recruiting?” whine.

(Not saying this at you @Bassmaster_Vol just using your quote as a launch pad for the discussion)

Yeah, from a recruiting standpoint I doubt the coaches track it this way...but 300 points should be the target. I'd say the folks in the recruiting department are aware of and keep up with it.

I expect final ratings etc. could impact where we're at with points. And with the nature of the transfer portal and our relative success with getting players there I'm not sure when we'll see UT in the top 5 on a consistent basis. We could be with our brand, style of play, staff, fans, NIL etc. but if the staff likes to save space for potential portal players then who knows.

top 10-15 on a year to year basis would be ideal, and then if we end up mostly staying somewhere between the 5-12 spot I'd be pretty happy.

Not me...I think they actually prefer plating early...but who knows how the weather will affect the game, it is often the ultimate talent equalizer, and yes that worries me a lot.

I believe we should win anyway, but it will probably cost us "style" points, when we need all of them we can possibly get.

I really hope the weather clears out by gametime.

The class isn’t even finished yet. Why are people freaking out when there are two signing periods left and a whole transfer portal season. We aren’t finished adding players yet.

Just enjoy what's left of this season, guys.

The Football program has had the surprise *pop* season that we only experienced with Basketball (2x) and Baseball, and always dreamed of happening in Football.

In regards to recruiting, the only thing that WE (fans) can actively influence is our NIL. Other than that, us freaking out doesn't help anything. So contribute what you're comfortable contributing, and try to encourage others to join without making them uncomfortable.

Other than that, just enjoy where we're at. This is a dream vacation and we're freaking out on Friday because we have to go home on Sunday. Still plenty of time left to enjoy this while we're here.

I don't think Billy was fully bought in at the beginning but seems he has come around and now that they are playing "better" they are gaining support. They will likely end at 8-4 which is far better than I think a lot expected after their start to the season. But right now their W/L's are not what is driving recruiting, someone definitely backed up the Brinks truck.

And I’d wager none of the same SUSPICIOUS lot predicted said “one off”. Because it’s mere existence smacks against their logic. There was no infusion of 5 star or high 4 star talent. We supposedly failed in the Portal Olympics cept for an overrated, out of shape disgraced former 5 star who’s a big downgrade from Javonta Payton. OL was crap last season and lost it’s only viable talent in Cade Mays. Left with HH who couldn’t step up against the big boys and that former 2 star WR who should’ve cashed out that ONE-OFF season in the NFL. Who’s left? That butterfingers midget who never met a sideline he didn’t want to run out of? Try to sell me that there’s a culture and development of talent that trumps online egghead mama boys rankings of players that Bama, UGA and tOSU have offered. 😏

At the same time- people can appreciate the job that the staff has done with average/depleted talent, and also be discouraged that the staff won't have more above-average/elite talent to work with.

I think TCU is going to be here to stay in the Big 12. I'm not sure they'll run the table yearly, but I think Dykes having such familiarity with building rosters via the portal (like he did at SMU) has him ahead of the game in the Big 12 over some of the traditional schools.

I expect once Texas/OU are in the SEC the Big 12 will be TCU's to lose most years.

good post, and i agree. and if you want to take it a step further.....the "freak out" that's currently going on, is in gainesville, FL. if they land/flip the kids they seem to be going after, it has to be a complete reaction to what is going on around them, not because of some master plan that's been executed flawlessly.

You mean that non above average talent that they have hand picked that still isn't completed that will be infused with portal talent?

Just cash me outside with recruiting criticism of this staff right now. It's plain ignorant and whiny. Look where we are and be grateful. Good grief.
