Back in the day 8-4 was a WTF season. This is the year we tell America we’re back. If you want recruiting to really take off, we need to be looking at a 10 win season (whether with bowl win or regular season, doesn’t matter).
Easier once upon a time when we didn't have games where we were 2-3 td dogs off the bat.

Or give us an ACC schedule.

But that's more or less asking us to go 10-0 in the other games, barring a massive upset. And even then 9-1.

Js. Not sure how many times we had to play 2 top-3 teams year in and out.

Here’s where I am:
Almost entirely intact coaching staff has another year with the team
Deeper across the board in all positions with experience and talent. Remember our scholarship numbers.
Heisman candidate QB
1st team all sec preseason WR
Arguably weaker schedule this year

…and we’re picking 1 more win than last year, or even the same?

I’m calling Bullshi+. It’s time to start believing we are for real and if we as a program are going to take the next step, 8-4 is not the answer.
Here’s where I am:
Our offense is going to be really good.
Our defense should improve a lot, but we will have to see how much.
Excited to see how good they can be.
But there are always things you cannot control…injuries, REFS, Covid, breakout seasons for transfers on others teams.
7 can happen.
10 is an amazing possibility.
I am going to enjoy watching this team!

Oh my….. It really is almost football time in Tennessee!!!

Looking at the depth chart it sure does look a whole lot better than last year. Our depth on the DL looks better than I thought and when looking at the DE's we got on that depth chart is exciting. I do hope Simmons steps up cause we sure going to need him.

Yeah our O/U is 7.5 wins. Don't see how that is disappponting. Unless a 50/50 (maybe 40/60) possibility is disappointing. But that makes 8-4 surprising?

I'd say 7-5/8-4 are both in "expected" territory.
6-6/9-3 is adjective range.

I'm about as set on 8-4 as any year but 2015. The cool thing is 2015 easily could have surpassed that with a few good bounces. Maybe 2022 will be what 2015 could have been. Fingers crossed.

We won 7 last year with a new coaching staff and a depleted roster. So expecting at the very least 1 more win is not a big deal. Barring major injuries, if we were to won 6 or 7 this year then that is considered a failure.

I’ll argue this is the first year in many that there is no sure loss on the schedule (2 probable losses IMO). I personally think for Heup to next step, we have to pull out a win we’re not expected to.

IMO, Pitt is way overrated
Florida has question marks everywhere
LSU has even more question marks
We are Kentucky’s daddy
South Carolina has Spenser Rattler as a QB

The rest are no issue.

UGA is an 18 point favorite over Oregon. I think that may be easy money. Let’s see what they look like after that…

The best 2 seasons I have seen were both 8-4. I will be building Heupel a statue if we go 9-3. I will be thrilled with 8-4. I am expecting 7-5 and will be slightly disappointed with 6-6. He inherited a dumpster fire, if we go 8-4 in year 2, then he has overachieved in his first 2 years.
