They dump someone with Pittman’s rep after a minor hiccup season (especially following the two previous coaches) and anybody takes that job at their own peril. Budding Auburn starter kit kind of thing. And if PITTMAN can’t recruit at Arkansas? No one can.

Could also be Pittman's choice 60 years old and spent his lifetime out of the spotlight as an OL coaching making almost 7 figures a year regardless of where he was.

HC is rarely able to get on the road and recruit like the assistants can. So it's a different type of gig and not all assistants like it or are cut out for it.

Who’s killed it recruiting there? Pittman didn’t as an OL guru until he went to UGA. I think Petrino was their nexus and he didn’t do it with superior recruiting. As previously stated, they dump him and they DROP several levels that’ll make Chad Morris look like a Svengali.

Again - a mutual parting isn't "dumping" him, but if their belief is that Deion is the real deal (I don't think he is) then they'd probably want to make a move sooner or later as somebody will pick him up eventually. This was their season to go all in and they're 5-5. They're about to lose the OC who's responsible for most of their success as well if the SC reports are accurate.

I'm only basing this off Barkley's comments which are likely false, but lets assume they are true. A&M firing Jimbo for a coach who's main appeal is recruiting wouldn't really make sense. They have a fortune tied into him and know the program will be gutted if he's canned, so I'd be surprised if he isn't given one more year.

Who else does that leave? UK? I don't see it.

It’s rarely “mutual”. 9 times out of 8 there’s a fractious losing relationship and that’s not apparent in this case. Never been enamored with Pittman, myself. He rode this “yesssirrr” persona to the hilt and I thought his hire as a HC was doomed from day one…I was wrong. The man knows what he’s doing and that program has bought in. No way else but down imo. The leap of faith that they’d cut ties or he’d give up one season after a mini-miracle version is wider than Sir Charles increasingly broadening backside would lend odds towards. This is bombast.

I say we boycott calling it Schiano Sunday. Gives that guy too much recognition and I don't like it. It was the day the fans finally said no and stood up to mediocrity. It's the reVOLution imo (not @reVOLution33)
But i don’t think it would have happened if it had been any other potential coach - it was Schiano Sunday.

No...I think you were right. Pittman is an 8 win a year at best guy, and if/when he loses Briles/Odom things will only be more difficult.

9-4 last season was pretty underwhelming honestly. They beat Texas who finished 5-7, beat A&M who only went 8-4, and then lost in every other ranked matchup they had and then also lost to Auburn who wasn't ranked. This year they beat Cincinnati to open the season, but have since once again lost to every ranked matchup they've had including a loss to Liberty and also A&M (currently the 2nd worst team in the SEC).

I think Pittman is a good coach, think he's smart enough to know his strengths and he did a great job building his first staff. But I don't think he's likely going to stay a HC for long or at least I don't see him being in the SEC as a HC long. He may take a step down in competition and enjoy a less hot seat and more success. If I'm a G5 school with some money or any P5 school not in the Big 10 or SEC then when he's on the market I'd give him a call. 3-5 million a year to thump an American or Sun Belt schedule would be a pretty good gig I'd say.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if he's a name that comes up when the Kansas job is open, especially if Arkansas has already parted ways with him.

There’s dumb fans, and then theres dawg fans

J Hyatt vs A Smith
There is at least one that is sensible:

honestly it's embarrassing that anybody on this board would try to compare the two; if tennessee fans mocked this comparison they would be totally justified. smith has 7 career receptions; hyatt has 58 receptions this season alone, with 15 TDs. hyatt is a possible first rounder; smith is a track guy who hasn't proven to be a durable football player as of yet.
let's just move along and take solace in the fact that we are the better team and that we absolutely dominated UTjr a couple weeks ago.
