I don’t trust the coaches either, honestly. One of the problems with the media voting is because they just look at the polls and the hype and vote.. but do they actually watch all games, all players, etc. to make their decisions? Nah, definitely not. But, do we think a coach with even less time will be able to watch tape of players and teams that they won’t actually play? Definitely not.

New info suggests the university initially became aware of Pruitt's recruiting antics when it realized the abundance of Chick fil A bags floating around campus on a Sunday afternoon.

DB/Secondary is a group that I feel like you always want to bring in more talent.

We play essentially 5 guys a game (if you count STAR) and this year we got so thin we were playing walk-ons. But special teams is mostly made up of secondary players as well for coverage teams. We saw some poor play from special teams when we got to a point where a lot of those guys were being asked to start on the defense.

So in short take talent, but we're also in a position where we don't have to take a body to take a body. If we've got 4 or 5 secondary targets in the portal we want and can land 1 or 2 then you take them, but I don't think we'll just pick ANY secondary guy in the portal. The last 2 classes we've taken guys that were former 4 stars talents...Hadden wasn't outta HS, but coming outta JuCo (before going to Auburn) he was really high rated.

Turnage, Walker, & Turrentine all were top 300 guys basically in every recruiting site. So they weren't just bodies we took in the portal.

At this point Christian Harrison, Rucker, Jourdan Thomas, Cameron Miller, Andre Turrentine, and Christian Charles are also the only DBs on scholarship that aren't upperclassmen. So gotta keep bringing in talent because with the portal how it is and with the NFL draft you could still lose guys after one big season.

There aren't going to be consequences if the athlete (and especially family) reaches out. The NCAA can't stop that. Tampering is really when a school initiates the communication.

Definitely agree with your second point about not just taking a body and I don't think this staff would do that. I am sure there are a few DB's in portal but getting them would be the biggest challenge as I am sure they will be in great demand. Would love to get a couple proven DB's and yes depth is a concern. I do remember the walk on that had to play against Bama.
