Hate OSU.

Completely indifferent to ND. Hell I'd rather them win over the recent teams (clemson, osu, uga, bama).

Guess I don't get the shade at ND by some. My dad hated them...he had all these theories...then again he also thought catholics were "backwards people" šŸ˜…
šŸ˜‚ My dad used to say they always won because of the Catholic refs. Theyā€™re still on my hate list because of how the media used to build them up. They still did until they were embarrassed when they stuck them in the playoffs.

What is up with theses ACC teams playing "nothing to gain and everything to lose "road games in week 1? Just a weak conference with smallish home venues so it doesn't matter as much financially.

They still do it today. No way they are the 5th best team. The 5th best team wouldn't be 17 point underdogs to anybody.

I can't stand Ohio State because their school and fanbase is basically just Yankee Alabama.

I don't think pining for the good old days. I just don't know that this is good for the sport when the best thing the sport had going relative to other sports is the value placed on the regular season. This format does take away from the regular season because losing that big game doesn't cost you....anything. Losing 2 may not mean much either as long as you can be 12. I realize I'm taking the perspective of the contending programs. I just believe there should be a reward for winning those games, and a penalty for losing. The result should matter as to the outcome for your season. Now it doesn't. If you win..great job...now do it again. You lose...no worries, payoff is around the corner.

It was never an even scale during the regular season. Oklahoma lost to Miami during the REGULAR SEASON and still played for the NC. Both Penn State and Auburn had epic undefeated seasons and never sniffed the championship. How was their regular seasons rewarded? The good ole boys decided before the season started and made the numbers work towards that.

I was down in Florida last week. Went to a business where I knew the owners were buckeye fans. Just to make conversation I asked "How are your buckeyes going to be this year?" He responds, "We're always great!" I responded, "Until you reach the playoffs. Must be nice to have 11 practice games every year." He didn't respond.

Yeah, I am nervous that it could take away from what makes college football great, but at the same time I think we may be underestimating the inherent passion. I donā€™t see that changing. This will bring in more casual fans at the end of the season, but the majority of us will still sell our soul for a win and lose sleep and friends when we lose a regular season game.
bolded line is why this was done. That's where the additional revenue is gonna come from. I'm the words of Josh pate, 'the casuals'.

Those arenā€™t facts. Milton lost the job. His ā€œinjuryā€ didnā€™t prevent him from playing the next week. Im just not going to claim someone is a heisman candidate because they played one good game against a team down 38 already with eight passes. I hope he does ball out, he is a great kid. Strictly my opinion, but Nico is a star and probably a top two QB prospect in the nation this year. He is someone who can lead us to a title and I think you let that kind of talent play day one and kill it for three years. All IMO and I just want the Vols to win.
Nobody is claiming he's a Heisman candidate based on what he did Thursday night. That's a straw man. Nobody said that. Don't intentionally misrepresent the statements to make your argument look better.

He has the talent to be a Heisman candidate next year if he puts it together. Making that statement is actually less of a bold prediction than you saying Nico can lead us to a title - because Nico is a high schooler, he has to get in the weight room, and you're looking several years into the future while Milton has multiple years of experience, his body is ready today, and we're talking about next year. Also, national title runs require a supporting cast on both sides of the ball and Heismans can be a single person's body of work and Tennessee's receiving corp will be a great compliment next year. Tbf, I don't think you're wrong. Both are accurate statements that can come true.

They will all compete for the job next year, but it's absolutely wiser on paper to redshirt your freshman and start your very talented redshirt senior. It's really baffling to me that that's a controversial statement.

Man, I really hope we win next week! We are getting a lot of run with probably being 3rd best team in the conference and if we stumble the berating will be brutal.

I'm sure it's just BVS on my part but there's a voice deep down telling me not to fall for it, do not expect a victory on the road against a good solid team.

Someone please talk me off the edge..

ā€œThe great Peyton Manningā€ didnā€™t have the benefit of year round 7x7 football instruction and EE (happened rarely back thenā€¦Eric Zeier was the first I remember). He played different sports and enrolled/reported in Summer. Totally different circumstances. And Jerry Colquitt was the established starter with Todd Helton on hand.
The only thing established with Colquitt was that it was his turn, he had 60 total passes thrown going into his senior season. Beating out Helton, Manning and Stewart was somewhat expected

Personally Iā€™d take two more NC since ā€˜98
