After a night to sleep on it…

Our first team offense is elite/borderline elite. Pleased with the tackles. We have depth at some positions like WR but at others we need another year or two of recruits so we have little drop off. This is the main difference between Georgia/Bama and everyone else on both sides of the ball.

Milton, if (and that’s a huge if) he can be consistent, has a chance to throw a ton of touchdowns next year. He does things that Hendon cannot when he’s really on his game. That touchdown pass might be the best thrown ball I have seen. With Milton’s deep threat in particular, I would love to see what he and Squirrel do.

I’m not sold on our starting defense, and concerned about 2nd team. To be honest, I expected more after coaches talking up how much more depth we had. While it was not a bad game from them, it also had a few glaring holes that were present from last year. Both pass rush and DB play *cough*Burrell*cough* again were… well… mediocre at times. Hadden was a bright spot here. Yes, we played vanilla, but I thought we could generate heat without a blitz against a mac opponent.

I’d also like to mention that we played incredibly clean and fundamental outside of the botched exchange between Tayven Jackson and Justin-Williams Thomas. I’m pleased with the discipline and focus on both sides of the ball - I don’t remember us having more than two penalties.

Next week we find out what this team is really capable of. It will be anything but vanilla. We will need to be creative in how we attack Pitt. However they gave up some yards on the ground so I suspect we attack them up the gut early and often. Their pass rush will be crucial to pick up as well, need to be locked in on the edges. Slovis is no Pickett but he is also not a slouch. We cannot let him have time in the pocket or we will be picked apart. Expecting a high stress fun game next Saturday.

GBO

The botched exchange looked like the QB saw something and tried to pull the ball back. The RB saw something and tried to keep it. They are both true Freshmen.

I will withhold judgement until I see them again.

Oh, and we will see them again as our offense will get to play plenty of backups this season.

15-0 🤠

3.30 should've never been premier game-time, imo. Night games are always better for the fans.
Yeah I’ve always hated how the 3:30 game is right in the middle of the day. Especially now, married with a 1 year old, I need the 12 game so we have the afternoon to do things, or the night when little one has gone to bed.

In other news, the shine has worn off the Beamer train. The offense has the same issues it did last year.
They gave up more points than they scored last year.

Even last night they were outgained in yardage lol. They won because (from the play by play I didn't watch it) they had 2 punt blocks for TDs. Those are things that aren't sustainable or easily replicated.

You just have to look past the marquee matchups. UNC and App State was insane and Arkansas vs. Cinci was also a great game. The Utah and Florida game went down to the wire which was a fun game to watch, also.
Ecu/NCSU as well

This team looks better coached, and last years record was a mirage...they quit.

Either way, if we win it will be a dogfight.
Yeah that same roster had Bama on the ropes. It would be naive to think they're suddenly not talented.

I think it will be an interesting game, but if we can hold AR (big if) even halfway from running all over, imo they can't keep up with our offense. We won't be kicking FGs like Utah did.
But if AR eats up yardage on the ground, it will be a one score game either way.

For the first time in a while, I just don't see a world where we aren't in it till the very end.

It occurs to me. Hindsight is 20-20, on a Sunday morning ...in Marrvuhl.

Florida is right where I thought they'd be.

Utah was really slow, and qb was horrid and STILL shoulda and coulda won game. Not sure what pact Foley made with the Devil 20 years ago, but it is unreal the luck that program has.

But to say Florida is devoid of talent is folly.

If we run the ball, we win.

Eh just control our trajectory. All we can do. And if they are undefeated rolling into Knox and we stomp them the same could be said for us.
Very true. Can't worry about them. Pitt is face first. Better take care of business there first and they're probably on the same level of UF.

We'll learn a lot Saturday and I can't help but think it will be largely positive.

We need to bring pressure on AR. Hit him early and often.

Beamer Ball is hereditary apparently

Why does it always seem that UF escapes these kind of games.
Jmo but it usually comes back to raw talent. No matter how down UF may appear, they still have all that Florida speed and talent around the field to some degree.

You see this all over the place in sports whenever you get 2 teams in a close game, if one has much more raw talent, they tend to "find ways" to win or appear lucky to win.

Jmo but it also explains a lot of UT/UF games post-Fulmer too. It also explains all those close UK and USCjr games post-Fulmer. We've almost always won them and talent is the hidden factor.

Scrolling through box scores and analyzing stats for other SEC teams this morning since I spent most of the day yesterday in Starkville tailgating with Miss St and Memphis buddies and missed most of the good evening games.

South Carolina did not have a good showing on offense. 307 yards of total offense, only 79 yards on the ground, and Rattler threw 2 picks. Ouch

Really think we can force him into making a few bad decisions.

This type game usually comes down to whoever makes fewest mistakes.

Big night at Neyland, Senior QB/WR, Oline thats big and talented, decent running game. Nothing I saw from them last night was elaborate. Coupla PA bootlegs, AR took off for a big gain once.

Their defense is quick. Guess what, everyone in SEC's is.

Couldn’t agree more. Talent wins out more often than not

I'm no foosball coach so idk, but if you bring pressure you need to be dang sure you finish it or else he'll break off a huge run after huge run. Simply bringing any level of pressure won't be enough and may be counterproductive.

My question is how much you trust your spy. I just don't know if we have a good enough spy for him this year.

Tough spot imo. But it definitely appears their rushing and AR rushing is their strong suit. It'd seem you'd force them to beat you through the air...but then there's your secondary.

Nm I give up I'll trust our coaches 😅

So Levis gained a net 285 yards through 4 quarters. 3 TDs and 1 INT.

Hooker had 233 yards in 1 half + maybe 3 minutes. 4 TDs and 0 TOs. Run it out a full game and he'd have had 414 total yards and maybe 7 or 8 TDs.

🥱🥱🥱
And Hooker was told not to run.. We didn’t need him to make many plays with his feet

I definitely don’t trust sitting back in zone with one of our linebackers spying. That didn’t work against ole miss last year.

Be aggressive and dictate.

I’d have to think we might play an extra DB sub for a linebacker in the game vs them to add more speed as a spy for AR. Got to be fundamentally sound in our gaps on run defense. One wrong assignment/DL gets knocked sideways and that cat is running down the sidelines for a Touchdown. Can’t let him escape
