As someone who doesn't follow women's bball why do you give a **** what the actual fans want from the program? KJH has made 1 sweet 16 and it took a desperation 3 from Puckett to beat Belmont on our home court to get there

But the reason the actual fans that watch women's bball are discussing KJH being on a hot seat is that game to get into the Sweet Sixteen had less than 5500 people in attendance.
Last season, the Lady Vols averaged 7,477 in attendance per game. Wednesday’s game with UConn brought 13,804, which was a very large crowd compared to recent years. FYI, the 1998 UT vs UConn game had the largest attendance of 24,597.

If I lived in the Knoxville area, I would have attended the UConn game, but probably not any others. I just don’t enjoy watching the LV games as much as I used to.

Not sure how my reply was me being mad. I am engaged in your discussion just seems circular when you don't even care about the topic as you already admitted yourself.

My last point was poor attendance for the 2 NCAA tournament games that TBA hosted neither were Sweet 16 games. It's not completely KJH's fault, Holly steered the ship into the wall...KJH just hasn't been able to change the direction (yet).
I do think if the team managed to make a run to a Final Four she'd cool a lot of the doubters and help extend her tenure here.

It might be that you said 'why do you give a s***' that made it seem like you were mad. Emotionally charged words. IMO, too early to tell with Holly and fans (as usual) jump off the ship after an embarrassing loss. I'll agree that there are concerns and I'm not really seeing great 'game time' coaching. The run lately has been promising and hopefully she gets better. But, how much longer should we hang on if we stay at this level? I'd say one more year if there is no or little improvement.

I will never understand the Levis phenomenon...it makes zero sense. If he can get drafted that high after the pathetic performance he has had on the field in college...then Milton should go #1...he has more raw talent than anybody.
If he's a top 5 pick, he should have had Kensucky playing for a national championship every year he was there. The boy may have some pictures of Mel :eek::eek::eek::eek:

This is ultimately the problem. Holly I felt bad for, she's replacing not only the greatest women's coach of all time but stepping in for a beloved friend and mentor.

But the product Holly put out there just declined once Pat's players were gone. And KJH seems to be a worse recruiter who isn't capable of developing talent. The disappointing part is she doesn't even appear to be good with Xs & Os. I don't really know what the fix is, I think she can consistently win 20 or more games here and make the tournament, but who knows if she can win a title here or even make a Final Four.

This run was about having more talent/size than the opponents they were beating. Horston and Jackson both would start anywhere in the country on any team. They are just that good, but what happens next year once they are gone? Big drop off in talent and production after you get past those two.

Good point. We are missing Key. Would you see a need to replace Holly after this year if we don't get recruits and finish 'middle of the pack' or a little above?

Got some news today that shook me a bit. My son, who is 40, has to have a heart procedure. His doctor said he presents with paroxysmal SVT that is quite symptomatic. It's my understanding they're gonna do a catheter ablation procedure and it's successful in 95% of patients. I'm praying that he's in the 95% group.

His doctor is a cardiac electrophysiologist and I'm praying that he's a good one. They're trying to get him set for the procedure as quickly as possible. I'll be heading to New Hampshire as soon as he gives me the date for the procedure. Here's hoping everything turns out OK.
@Batman1948
prayers!! God’s got ya!

If you can't recruit to Tennessee as the lady's basketball coach, alarm bells should be sounding.

I mean there are 2 top 25 in state TN girls and neither is likely going to be a Lady Vol and I'm not sure KJH got them to visit either.

2022 = 1 recruit landed (Justine Pissott)
2023 = 0 (so far)
2024 = 0 (so far)

I think the transfer portal might be the dagger for KJH's career here if she just thinks she can pull in girls from there and get by without developing or recruiting HS talent.

I'd be pretty surprised honestly. Despite losing 7 games already 0 have been in SEC play. LSU and South Carolina will probably finish 1/2 and beat them, but if they finish 3rd in conference I'd say KJH will be here another year at least.

I’m probably solo in my opinion, but I really don’t want the mercenaries.
Same for nolen.
The money chasers are not worth it. Betting they are decisive in the locker room and just not worth it. I want players who are going to become VFLs. Not rental players like pruitt went after…

Definitely not solo in your opinion. I’ve seen this scenario way too often in my professional career. Mercenaries that job hop simply to chase a couple more dollars, manipulate a situation to their favor, etc. Every one that I have ever dealt with caused issues within an otherwise cohesive department.

I hired these ppl out of necessity because of low staffing issues, but I’ll never hire one again unless I have absolutely no choice again.

They have zero loyalty to the company or their co-workers…only look out for themselves and try to stir up sh1t and try to manipulate their way into whatever position they may desire.

Every one either left to chase another dollar or they were let go after I gave them enough rope to hang themselves.

So I completely agree…we want VFL’s, not rental mercenaries.

I'm of the opinion that a lot of VFLs might not have been Vols in the new NIL era. The more important thing is they buy in when they get here. I don't blame a player for wanting to get paid now that it's legal.

I think Heupel's done a good job so far of navigating it. Seems most the portal guys have bought in once they got here. Bru as much a VFL as anyone.

But I would say I want the "I'll earn my keep" not the "I want what he's getting" types, if they are going to be mercenaries.
