I like Rick Barnes. Think he's a great coach. But I also understand completely how he can very frustratingly be considered the Mark Richt of basketball.

It's better than having the Counzo Martin, Donnie Tyndall, Wade Houston, Buzz Peterson etc etc etc of...basketball.

This team isn't different from any other of Barnes teams. They're subject to go ice cold from time to time

Your second statement is every team in college basketball not just a Barnes coached team..But the Vols are your team and probably seems worse than other teams..

Is this a good team? Yes. Is it an elite team? Probably not. Super strong in one area and is mediocre in another. Usually the NC teams rank top 25 or so in both in Ken Pom metrics. Vols do not. Doesn’t mean we can’t get to a sweet 16 and have a good season. Losing in the first two rounds though wouldn’t setup well after the last 2 march outings. Let’s hope for a sweet 16 at the least

Our OL recruiting could really use that to quell some persistent negative recruiting BS.

True. But CBB is arguably one of toughest to win. Takes luck, and skill. One loss against a crappy Florida team doesnt matter much in long run. But, if its a barometer of future success, we have a LOT of work to do.

I am extremely thankful to have a team and coach that is annually in contention and gives us so many great moments...I will not do what you guys are doing.

I try to be reasonable… it is what it is. Vols are 40th offensively per ken Pom (not bad but not where NC teams rank) 1st defensively (elite obviously). Judging by the past NC winners they rank Top 25 or so in both offense and defense per Ken Pom. That leaves you maybe 8 teams currently that fall into the category. Although again that doesn’t mean UT can’t have a decent season. It’d have to be a sweet 16 though at least. I can’t imagine 3 straight seasons losing in round 1 or 2. The negative talk will just be unbearable. So hoping for the best

Awesome for him. I saw a recent mock draft that had him and Hyatt going in the first and Hooker and Tillman going in the second.

I am hoping for the best but preparing for yet another disappointing season. I think we will have a good season. I think we still have a decent shot at beating Bama for the SEC title. I just don’t know how confident I am in this team in March.

Plus after all the years of Rick falling in the first two rounds the last decade. It would be really nice to see him break through that first weekend barrier at the least. He truly is like the Mark Richt of CBB

I didn't say it was worse, but I understand the desire to see a championship. Fans want to be the very best, at least just once in their lifetime. Hell, I'm still very hopeful to see it in football twice in my lifetime.

There are big swings. We were 30 on offense going into tonight. We could have 2 big games and back into top 30.

That’s true also. We’ll get better sampling through the last 9 games. Those were all when the Tournament started in previous seasons

I use the Ken Pom metrics as like the Blue Chip ratio in football. Currently undefeated if you have 50% or more of your roster as 4 and 5 stars to win the national championship. Ken Pom it’s being in the top 25 or so in both offense and defense. We’ll see if a team can break through those though. Over the last 20 years it hasn’t happened yet

Don’t lose to the programs we hate most. Simple. Miles better than Kentucky and UF, don’t lose to them. It’s this kind of inconsistency that is the big knock on Barnes

I will not overreact after a loss (ok, I didn't watch this game). The offense has been better this year. The defense is elite. Olivier has actually been impressive down low lately. Santi is definitely better and ZZ has run the point quite well. Then, you add the veteran ability of JJJ and the athleticism of Philips (hopefully he gets consistent) and the team could make a run. Now, please oh please, go further in the NCAA tournament this year.
