This is logical and reasonable. We all see that Duke appears to be the better team right now, and if the trends observed from them and our Vols over the past few weeks continue, they probably win the game. But anything could happen. None of our players had great offensive games yesterday...it could happen tomorrow.

Much crazier things happen in the tourney than a limping 4-seed beating a surging 5-seed. I just wouldn’t say it’s likely, at this point.

It would surprise me. Our worst loss of the year was by 13 at UF and we were winning that game with 8 to go. The only game all season that we never lead or tied in the 2nd half was at Rupp without James/Phillips. Despite this team's flaws, the defense seems to make them immune to being blown out.

The women’s game would benefit immensely from some parity. How often do you see huge tournament upsets? Just feels so unbalanced.

According to this game, then his teammates need to defend 1 on 1 better.

He was picking up early fouls on help defense. Tough position...help or avoid. Gotta help though in said position.

But fully agree. He has to play it unusually safe and see the long-term value in being out there alll game.

Now that Aidoo has come on defensively and with Awaka providing valuable minutes, I think we can match up, along with Uros of course.

We looked like monsters out there last night vs Louisiana. Our defensive hands seemed everywhere blocking and changing shots.

And unfortunately picking up ticky tack fouls... I hate saying it, but the refs will play a big role tomorrow...

That is just how they do the 2nd rd games. They've always been night heavy.

Anybody care to venture a guess where Duke beat Purdue as the worse seed in 1994? Meaning which stadium.

Just going by the eye test. Teams are all pretty much the same in college basketball. Parity is king. Its who is playing well at the time. Duke is, we are not.

I haven't even watched them yet tbh. Duke/UNC used to be my biggest non-UT reg season game...now it is shat.

What are their strengths and weaknesses? Any elite players to look out for?

I’m not saying that if you understand the gist. But if you want equality across the board and what’s good for the “student athlete,” then Maryland-Bama (who played the early games yesterday) would play early tomorrow and so on. You would keep the same continuity. But that makes too much sense. Our guys played a 9:40 tip last night. I get that they’re young athletes, but they play 2 hours, handle required media obligations, and get to bed (at say) 2 am? Sure, they don’t play today but then start a different routine tomorrow.

Maybe it’s CBS (still an NCAA partner), but this is just another on the list that the NCAA really doesn’t care about the athletes.

Why should Maryland play 12:15/9:40 and UT play 9:40/2:15? This isn’t golf where they want the players to get the same possible weather conditions. Oh yea, in the conference tournaments, they continue the continuity with the sessions, too.

Dang man...I used to go lay carpet all freakin day and then play full court pickup ball at the rec for 3-4 hours every freaking night and then we would run games for 4-5 hourson Saturday...these dudes are freaking fine..they don't need any more pussification than society already heaps on them.

Neither is Duke. We can win this game as easily as they can. If our defense shows up and our shooters are hitting, I like our chances.

I think Duke is better than us right now....but that doesn't mean we can't win..

You are right...if our shooters have "one of those games" like they did in several 30+ point blowouts...we can beat anybody

There is a fine line between funny & sexist jokes.

I dont mean to say the product is terrible, which it can be. But, I enjoy sports all around. My frustrations are same in womens athletics. The hypocrisy of NCAA intervening for parity sake has caused lack of parity. Imagine if we let a group of Kindertartners run a board room.

Good point. Still wild, but much less so when you consider the statistics of their historical seedings. In the 25 years I pulled up from 94-2019 (missed one year) they were a 1 or 2 seed 20 of those times lol. 3-4 seed 3 of the other times. 2 times in 25 seasons they were a 6 and 8. Not much room for losing to higher seeds...

Similar to them saying Barnes @UT hasn't won much as the lower seed...well yeah because he's been putting out 2-4 seeds on the regular and those teams tend to only see higher seeds in ya know...Elite Eight and such and even then they face lower seeds some of the time.
