It is as I posted this AM. It will continue to be as I posted until TV changes it. He's a great HC and knows his guys. But Dickey is not a catcher, the SPs are throwing and not pitching, and you will not win a lot of SEC games with this line up.

As a former pitcher, I have to ask what does throwing instead of pitching even mean? This isn’t middle school. These dudes know how to pitch and Frank Anderson is an excellent pitching coach.

Are you saying there is no strategy pitching? That’s wrong. Bc I promise they have a game plan. They’ve scouted these teams and have a plan to attack. And the pitching staff knows the plan. Not like that would be a secret.

If you just mean they aren’t executing their pitches, I agree. Why? Couldn’t tell you. Usually a bad habit mechanically which can be difficult to shake. And enough of it can bleed into a mental game. Could be the problem. Seems doubtful these guys would lose confidence considering their tools, but they could be focusing too much on correcting a deficiency.

that could be a huge part of it.

coach needs to get some big cruits for 24.
I kinda knew it with this team especially after the last two years. Something is off. I’m kinda new to watching BaseVols, this is our down year (at this moment). I played softball when I was younger in leagues and team chemistry is a thing. They don’t have it. No, I’m not ready to fire CTV. He’s too pretty to look at 😁.

I wonder what the analytics say… is the pitchers spin rate and such down this year? Could it be mental and the pitchers be stressing more bc they know they won’t have the run support that they did the year before?

I’m not worried about losing these games…. I am worried about the starting pitching being nailed like they are…. It’s an issue that needs to be corrected soon.

That’s how I feel. I thought coming in to the year they’d be in a bunch of 3-2 ball games where we would be frustrated by the hitting (because there were so many hitters to replace from last year), but the pitching would keep them competitive. Instead the pitching is putting the games out of reach before the hitters can settle in. Very strange and nothing like what we were led to believe about this staff

Oh well. Lot of ball left to play this year. Go Vols!

They are absolutely not getting better. The swim at terrible pitches and constantly take strikes. They are a bad hitting team and our pitching has came back to earth.

The % of 5 stars hit more because there are less of them, the bulk of the NFL is 3 star or less though.
Less == artificially suppressed to help the %es. Also, the 5 stars are those with higher visibility, so better scouting. The argument is basically "the diamonds that you found are higher quality than the ones you didn't".

End of 8th.

9-3 florida

Burke struck out and left Moore on 3rd base. We're just leaving way too many runs stranded on base.

Just show some fight VOLS.

*I really want to love VOL baseball like I do football and basketball, but these boys are making it hard too.

What would you do, coach?

See this mornings' post, fan. Then seen others posts on the subject in past weeks, fan. See other posts from others on here who know baseball, fan.

But I will give you one. Every SEC team they play knows our SPs pitch up in the zone by design most of the time. They apparently think they can overpower them. That would be a wrong assumption this season because other teams have watched the videos from last season, so they adjusted. Just like they know they will not hold guys on first well. No improvement in locating pitches or holding runners since last season.

UGA fans locked in on us first. We were too busy enjoying some modicum of success to realize that Georgia has become our new Florida. And what I mean by that is this... In the 90s, Spurrier's personality and two great teams drove a rivalry that didn't exist into existence. Kirby and Georgia fans have been baiting us. They're not our rivals but since their rivals are down they've begun to act like we're their main one. All of their focus is on us and right now we may be their only threat. Florida and Auburn are both down. This is about to get heated (and to think I used to not mind UGA).

It's the way rivalries work in the internet era. Back in the old days, early Saturday afternoons in So. GA we'd gather around the pickup trucks on the edges of a dove field and listen to games on the radio. Somebody would say, "Yeah, Georgia's got a good team, but I read in the paper that Auburn's gonna be pretty good this year." And everybody would nod and grunt and head out toward their spot on a fence row.

Now, if another team is perceived as a competitive threat, somebody starts a post on a website or twitter or maybe instagram (although I've never figured that one out) detailing how that particular competitor is really just a paper tiger. Everybody else joins in the chorus with statistics and anecdotes supporting that idea. Pundits, bloggers and youtubers put out serious articles and videos addressing the slights and comments from that other team's delusional fans, who retaliate with insulting repartee of their own. Players and recruits get involved and it becomes an entire ecosystem of propaganda warfare over a football match.

Anyway, it's gotten too serious, IMO, but it's still fun and interesting. But probably best not to attend any dove shoots with a bunch of good ol' boys with shotguns until you know who they root for on Saturday afternoons.

Don’t be too hard on ‘em. A lot of young guys that had to follow the greatest show on the diamond. They’re not ready yet.

They’ll get it worked out. It might just take longer than this season.
