You are spot on with follow your shot. Most parents have no idea what transition defense is supposed to look like. They love to yell follow your shot which the coach then has to tell the players to ignore. But, what in blue blazes do you have issue with yelling for the players to box out?

Yep, they have lost quite a few kids to the portal, but that goof ball coach is the type that you don't want to give any momentum to...

Everyone thinks you are suppose to box out right at shot release…. Which is incorrect if you want to rebound the basketball.

I feel like you are overanalyzing some application here. You absolutely must maintain proper positioning relative to the offensive player and the rim in order to rebound. That includes physical contact unless you are on the perimeter (around the 3pt line).

How do you feel about keep your eye on the ball. That was one of my favorites. Saw a short video of a 3 year old running to get the ball and putting it up to his eye. 😂

I get flamed for my point of view on this… teaching pro shot form in basketball…. HLP pattern when hitting in baseball…Absolutely hate parents coaches telling kids to just throw strikes…. I’m a big boy so I can handle the criticism.

We have to yell something to get the nervous energy out lol. I used to keep the books to control myself.

LOL your issue is that they're saying to box out 1/4 of a second before they should make contact with the opponent? That's the ultimate form of pedantic haha

Parents are a chore though.

More Butch Jones energy. It's so early in the cycle...I remember we had a #1 class mid-cycle during the Butch Jones years because we took a bunch of recruits early on. We all saw how that ended. Yawn.

Let’s not forget there are plenty of idiot coaches that think they are Dean Smith in basketball because they read his book, or have developed the greatest new swing in baseball that will turn all his junior varsity players into major league millionaires. My son whose nickname was “home run king” called it the “Elvis Swing”…it was bad.

Way back in the day I was a match out of medaling at the HS state wrestling tournament and my brother and I were watching the match who's winner would be my next match. The match ends and my brother says "Well, no pressure... Because if you can't beat that guy you just don't deserve a medal".

All of that to say, GJL probably had a similar thought after watching our DB room for the bulk of last year lol
