Agree with the last part. Hiring Dooley is what set this program back and this job is way too attractive to make a hire like that. Hell, NOT hiring Patterson the year before was also a colossal mistake. Patterson coveted this job and would have been a great fit.

Hamilton is more responsible than anyone for the decade-plus football struggles.
None of the coaches hired were the problem…… just like hiring Heup didn’t solve the problem…. Our issues were from the top down…. We fixed the administration… that is why all our sports programs are being successful to varying degrees.

That would be wild to see a simulated war game of how that might have played out.

My biggest question is how Japan would attack Russia. Their nearest entry point is basically Siberia and thousands of miles away from anything meaningful. Sure disaster. Maybe go naval all the way around the Bering Strait, avoid all the icebergs(?) and through the White Sea and land north of St Petersburg beside Finland? Long ways, but the land route is too ridiculous.

The Japanese controlled most of Manchuria and China but they had not attacked into Russia proper. Russia felt their territory in the east was not in any danger and so they were able to concentrate their efforts in the west against the Germans. The Russians primary advantage was sheer numbers and their willingness to send their people into the meat grinder of the German tanks and automatic weapons fire. If Japan had invaded eastern Russia through Manchuria and started gobbling up huge tracts of Russian territory and the natural resources that came with it, Russia would have been forced to send troops to that front and might not have had enough bullet catchers to hold off the German advance at Stalingrad. Could have been a much different outcome because if that scenario played out then it is very likely that the United State never enters WW II. Can't prove a counter factual but we were looking to be content with providing supplies and equipment only. Who knows?

In honor of @drvenner :

“A Roman walks into a bar.
“He holds up two fingers and says, ‘Five beers, please!’”

“A Frenchman walks into a library and asks for a book on warfare.

“The librarian replies, ‘Why, You’ll only lose it.’”

Q: “If April showers bring May flowers, then what do May flowers bring?”

A: “Pilgrims.”

Q: Why were the early days of history called “The Dark Ages”?

A: Because there were so many knights!

The first two are definitely the best. 😂

You concluded your "Age of Chivalry" term paper at UT with that last one, didn't you?

I remember when Butch Jones was here recruiting was pretty good. However, Heupel is taking it to another level. Unlike Butch, Heupel doesn’t have an ego to get in the way.
To put a finer point on your statement, Heupel has a big QB-sized ego, but (so far, as we've been able to observe) he keeps it channeled productively.

I wouldn't be surprised if somewhere in his goals he's written, "To become the head coach more assistants want to work for."

That’s awesome! Does it have AI and that is its own dance? (I am terrified if so)

If the dance is programmed, then cool. But I would bet money that the programmers needed help with the actual rhythm of the choreography…
Now we are teaching them how to communicate like honeybees. The hive mind will take over and ruin us all!
