Hiring coaches is always a crapshoot...we got lucky and hit on the right guys. I don't really buy the "it was DWs plan along"...I suspect that is a little revisionism or wishful thinking going on to make us trust DW and feel more secure in his leadership. I do think he is a really good AD whether he got lucky or not with the chain of events leading to hiring JH..If you are talking about DW hiring CJH, that was not a crapshoot. That was DW’s plan all along. He knew what CJH was capable of doing. He just had to go through the motions of looking for a “big name “ to satisfy the masses, then went and got his first choice.
Now no one should doubt any hire that either of them supports.
If you are talking about hiring DW, don’t think that was a crapshoot either.
100%I have no great advice here but I'm going through similar circumstances with a senior dog we adopted with a not-so-great heart and I totally feel you. I wish you and your dog all the best man. Keep us (me) updated on how everything goes, I'm certainly pulling for you both.
Edit: Not exactly on topic, but with the boom of pets adopted in 2020-2021, I think there is going to be a huge demand for vet services. We may already be seeing it now.
Try to find a vet that does alternative medicine. Our family dog was diagnosed with cancer and we were told 1-3 months, 3-6 if we did chemo/radiation. Got a second opinion, found a vet that prescribed a Chinese herb blend (very inexpensive) and we just put her down a little over a year after her diagnosis.
Very sorry to hear this. My heart goes out to you. We had a German Shepherd when I was a kid who got arthritis in his back legs so badly he couldn't get up. We had to carry him home and get something to put him "to sleep." I still remember it so clearly. It is hard to have no good choices. Our two year old GSD that wifey and have now is so precious to us. I don't know how I could stand news like you just got. Sorry about the vet situation too, of course. You will be in my thoughts.
People, never take your pets for granted.
What kind of cancer does he have?
And, you can double dip if you want. BOOM!!When you unexpectedly have a family free night...just vol nation, a bowl of queso, a cold ipa, and me. Good way to rewind from a long week.View attachment 552076

so I trust him to do a good job.
I hope I am wrong about all that, but it doesn't really matter if I am or not, because since we did end up with the right guys at AD and HC, I really don't care if it was luck or not.
If...big GIANT IF...he had hired Franklin....I was done until they were both gone. I wouldn't have been happy with TE either, but I would have hung around and gave him a chance.
That's hard, man.x1,000,000
He's actually a GSD, 9yo
started out as a tumor on one of his anal glands (expressing/maintaining those has always been a problem for him). started aggressive chemo treatment to see if we could shrink the tumor enough for surgery. did another ultrasound this week and that original tumor has remained the same size, and the cancer has spread to one of his lymph nodes. the dr said "we can start a newer kind of chemo with greater frequency and track it every other week (aka expensive ultrasounds and blood tests)"
I'm just not going to put him through that
Do you know the name of the type of cancer?x1,000,000
