Ted Williams is considered the father of the modern swing by a lot of people…. Why do so many people feel like players from that era are automatically better… The spin rates and mph is much higher than back then…. Gloves are better….. defensive range is better…. Positional baseball is better….There weren’t very many non-white players in the league…. Big changes have happened…. Not judging…. Just wondering about people’s opinions.
How do you know it’s better? You can’t prove most of what you just posted….
Look at his hip movement. Couple that with some of the best eye-hand coordination ever. Of course he’d do well in any generation. On top of that the dude was a fighter pilot in a real war. That took some serious skill. I guess you’d probably argue that he wouldn’t be able to fly a modern Warcraft…

As a whole, you are correct…..but Walter Johnson, Bob Feller, and Bob Gibson could hum it with anyone today….

NFL/Draft guys....

Which teams are likely going to need a QB in round one next year?

I have hopes of Milton being a first rounder, but I know Drake May, Caleb Williams, and a few other guys are likely going to get first round consideration. Just wondering how many teams will be in the market...

Bob Gibson is a good example…. I read where they did “scientific tests where they thought Gibson threw 95 mph at high end avg. in 2008…. There were only 11 pitcher that threw as fast or faster than 95…. By 2018…. There were over 1,300 pitchers that threw over 95 mph…. Not knowing if or how he might have improved…. Would his arm be considered as elite with how fast todays athletes throw?

Hard to say for certain as many teams are waiting to see how their room performs but I’d estimate 5-6 teams will need a QB next offseason.
Likely: Bucs, Raiders, Falcons, Washington, Broncos
While maybe Ridder figures it out or Jimmy G is able to put together a good season or Russ returns to his old form. I think there’s a better chance than not that each of these teams is in the market for a QB next season.
Possibly: Vikings, Packers, Lions, Steelers, Titans, Saints, 49ers, etc.
There are a lot of unproven commodities and aging talent in the NFL currently.
Joe Milton almost certainly goes round 1 because of his unlimited upside. He’d have to regress hard. If we see a slightly improved version of Clemson game Joe, then I’d be shocked if he doesn’t go round 1.

I’m pretty sure the past greats would have trained like today’s athletes…..so if they were the greatest then, probably would be today as well.

Did you ever see Gibson pitch when he was in his prime?? There is a lot more to pitching than just how fast the ball is thrown. None of today’s pitchers have caused the mound to be lowered have they? End of story.

Top 5 recruiting class this year?

I was looking at our recruiting and some of the guys (23) we’ve been in on that seems we may have a good chance of landing this class and based on 247 class rankings if we got these guys or better the class would have ranked #3 in 2019, #5 in 2020, #4 in 2021, #5 in 2022, and #4 in 2023. Obviously it depends on our ability to close (according to Austin Price) but we’ve closed pretty good the last couple of years. jmo.

I’d like to get some of the guys from Mater Dei but I think that’s going to come down to NIL. We got a ton of buzz from the LA media market and Mater Dei social media with our win over Alabama because Bru McCoy and Chase McGrath are from Mater Dei, so was Bryce Young. My sense was the media out west including Mater Dei was living vicariously through us. They were celebrating like they had just beat Alabama and I’m okay with that. In fact most of America if not the entire world were celebrating our win that night. It was one for the ages. The point is we’re back on the map and presumably we’re the good guys. Hopefully, there will be more dividends. jmo.

I think the signing limit is back this year so we'll have to make the numbers work but if we could add Baker (OT), Breland (DL), and Frazier (RB) from Mater Dei that would be money well spent I think. Throw in Wingo, Reddell, and Sammy Brown and we're probably going to piss off a lot of people. jmo.

We can only take so many but I also would like the kid from Hawaii (Taumau), and I think we'd have to make room for Jerrick Gibson if he wants in, and I don't want to leave out the WR from Texas (Wesco) and I don't want to forget Calhoun. I mean I've got others on my list but I'm probably sounding like Oliver, "Please sir, can I have more?" lol

Was before I was born, but I watched the Colorado game and I could not for the life of me understand why Johnny Majors ran a draw play at the colorado 41 with 7 seconds left.

Plenty of time for a quick sideline throw. Just an awful call.
Yes but iirc we still would have won if he (Cobb?) had run out of bounds in field goal range instead of cutting back inside and trying to run for a TD. It was disappointing to tie.

I think Milton is gonna have to have a monster year next year to go in the first round. Caleb Williams will probably win the Heisman again and be the #1’pick. If Maye has another monster season he will definitely be a first rounder. Milton isn’t gonna be faster than Richardson. Now he may beat his broad jump and vertical but I don’t think the media will be slobbering over Milton like they did AR unless he has a monster year.

I think they will once they all understand Milton has the strongest arm in the history of football.

Just on video and yes I know they lowered the mound…. I love baseball history…. They are in discussions to move the mound back due to the dominance of todays pitchers.
