Hard to say for certain as many teams are waiting to see how their room performs but I’d estimate 5-6 teams will need a QB next offseason.
Likely: Bucs, Raiders, Falcons, Washington, Broncos
While maybe Ridder figures it out or Jimmy G is able to put together a good season or Russ returns to his old form. I think there’s a better chance than not that each of these teams is in the market for a QB next season.
Possibly: Vikings, Packers, Lions, Steelers, Titans, Saints, 49ers, etc.
There are a lot of unproven commodities and aging talent in the NFL currently.
Joe Milton almost certainly goes round 1 because of his unlimited upside. He’d have to regress hard. If we see a slightly improved version of Clemson game Joe, then I’d be shocked if he doesn’t go round 1.
Take the Steelers off that list…. We are very pleased with Kenny Pickett.

Did you ever see Gibson pitch when he was in his prime?? There is a lot more to pitching than just how fast the ball is thrown. None of today’s pitchers have caused the mound to be lowered have they? End of story.

While I agree with he premise…..baseball has done things to favor the hitters. Eliminating shifts and tinkering with the manufacturing of baseballs are just a couple of things.

I just watched the Alabama highlights once again. I would like to vent about the fact that we have to put up with Bob Kesling year after year. I feel cheated that I missed out on John Ward. It would not be so bad if I did not have to listen to Kesling whom, in my opinion, is no better than a local radio DJ calling a high school football game. He consistently gets the name of our players wrong, he shows zero emotion, and most of the time it sounds like he would rather be anywhere else. He makes me feel nothing. I know there will NEVER be another John Ward, but that does not mean we have to put up with someone who clearly does not give a ****.

Feel your pain, brother. As an old VOL curmudgeon, I was blesssed to listen to John Ward since his 1968 broadcasting debut. Before that, it was George Mooney. Kesling is indeed bland & seems to favor Tennessee opponents at times. That said, there are much worse: broadcasters at South Carolina, vandie, etc.

Bob Gibson is a good example…. I read where they did “scientific tests where they thought Gibson threw 95 mph at high end avg. in 2008…. There were only 11 pitcher that threw as fast or faster than 95…. By 2018…. There were over 1,300 pitchers that threw over 95 mph…. Not knowing if or how he might have improved…. Would his arm be considered as elite with how fast todays athletes throw?
That’s without any real sports science in his favor. Why do you think there are so many that can throw that fast now? Give Gibson the same resources and he could still play in this era.

Add Miami to that list imo.

@LA Vol, I just looked at the softball brackets and wow, are you right?! Talk about rigged brackets. Bama is 40-18, and they get MTSU, Long Island, and Central Arkansas in their bracket…not one power 5 team. Lady VOLS are 44-8 and get 35-18 Louisville, 41-16 Indiana (2 power 5 teams), and Northern Kentucky. To add to that, Georgia is a 14 seed, and they got NC Central, Boston University, and VA Tech in their regional. How in the world does a 4 seed get 2 power 5s (who are actually decent teams)??!!

Yep. Not even trying to hide it. They want Bama on cruise control until Fouts can return for Omaha. They stuck UT with a loaded regional to accommodate ESPN's "home run" narrative-- three powerful offenses with the country's three top HR hitters from Indiana, Louisville and Tennessee-- in one regional. Looks like UT will sail through that to meet Texas in the supers. Another tough regional, since Texas hoped for a Top 8 seed and wasn't happy with their seeding. Presto, another narrative-- the battle of the UTs in Knoxville, playing a UT-UT matchup to replace the one cancelled in the regular season.

It's all about narratives and matchups they can package and sell for maximum revenue. To boost revenue even more, they put most of the games on ESPN+ to increase subscriptions and haul in even more $$$. It favors some teams over others, but when the real metric is TV revenue, that's what you get. Teams just have to play and write their own narratives-- and hope the cream rises to the top.

He would have been developed the same as today's pitchers. He would be faster than 95.

I so wish MTSU had upset that apple cart. Alas.

Top 5 recruiting class this year?

I was looking at our recruiting and some of the guys (23) we’ve been in on that seems we may have a good chance of landing this class and based on 247 class rankings if we got these guys or better the class would have ranked #3 in 2019, #5 in 2020, #4 in 2021, #5 in 2022, and #4 in 2023. Obviously it depends on our ability to close (according to Austin Price) but we’ve closed pretty good the last couple of years. jmo.

I’d like to get some of the guys from Mater Dei but I think that’s going to come down to NIL. We got a ton of buzz from the LA media market and Mater Dei social media with our win over Alabama because Bru McCoy and Chase McGrath are from Mater Dei, so was Bryce Young. My sense was the media out west including Mater Dei was living vicariously through us. They were celebrating like they had just beat Alabama and I’m okay with that. In fact most of America if not the entire world were celebrating our win that night. It was one for the ages. The point is we’re back on the map and presumably we’re the good guys. Hopefully, there will be more dividends. jmo.

I think the signing limit is back this year so we'll have to make the numbers work but if we could add Baker (OT), Breland (DL), and Frazier (RB) from Mater Dei that would be money well spent I think. Throw in Wingo, Reddell, and Sammy Brown and we're probably going to piss off a lot of people. jmo.

We can only take so many but I also would like the kid from Hawaii (Taumau), and I think we'd have to make room for Jerrick Gibson if he wants in, and I don't want to leave out the WR from Texas (Wesco) and I don't want to forget Calhoun. I mean I've got others on my list but I'm probably sounding like Oliver, "Please sir, can I have more?" lol

I think this class you’ve posted or something very similar is quite realistic at this point. We will take more than that though. At least one more te, wr, and ot. Also think one of those safeties won’t make it in this class, and another db could be taken.

My daughter got me this shirt for my birthday today (the big 51!). I love it, but I have never seen one like it before. Have any of you morans ever seen this one before? TIA

The biggest difference in pitching today?
How many pitchers today have double digit complete games in a season?
Teams today ask their starter for 5-6 innings then bullpen, may use 3-4 pitchers a game.
Yep…. Analytics has changed the game…. It also helped figure out that batting average isn’t an important stat.
