And yet...the Sugar Vols are so named for their Sugar Bowl victory, not their SEC Championship. Just saying.
I am pretty sure, John Ward coined the term Sugar Vols at the end of the 1986 Vols final regular season game with Vandy. At the end of the game many Vol fans were throwing sugar cubes onto the field as the Vols exited the stadium. It had been a long time since UT had represented SEC in the Sugar Bowl as SEC champions

They are just going through the motions. Got stuff to do, I'm out. Hope at least one of you goobers can get in their heads and wake them up.

...had been?

Yeh, UT was SEC champs in 1971 and then in 1986 - 15 years. We returned to Sugar Bowl again in 1991
...and 1991 was the last time we've been. That's 32 years and counting since we went to the Sugar Bowl. It makes 15 years look pretty minuscule by comparison. Back in the early 90's, I planned to go to the Sugar Bowl the next time the Vols went. I'm still waiting. I was in college then. Now, I'm old.

While I dont want to take anything away from it, and the people who like rings like this...SEC Champions/National Champions, only rings I care about. Never been a fan of big, huge rings for winning something other than conference or national titles.
I'm a huge fan of the staff and team getting rewarded for giving us a better season than we had the right to expect. Good for them.

The last two national champions won 0 games in the SECT. Not saying we will do that, but this tournament has no bearing on anything going forward. Just people wanting to create drama.
No. This team needs to host. They've proven that they need to. This cements that they won't. Will be a tough hill given their road flaws. Gotta hope for a good draw.

You have to hope for a good draw regardless. I just don’t get fans creating drama and being embarrassed. Getting beat by good pitching. It’s competitive sports. We aren’t done yet.

Agree with your first point but being at home makes a difference for this squad it appears.

I didn’t say it had any bearing on a regional. I know how it works.

I just stated that it was a completely lifeless and boring performance from pitch 1 and people will make fun of them. It better be sunny and 75 wherever they go though. They are bad enough on the road so any bad weather will make it impossible for them.

They typically don’t use the conference tournaments to determine seeding…Being healthy and rested is more important than hosting.

Wait a minute. You mean that there are people out there that will say mean things about opposing college teams? Say it ain't so. I may lose all faith in humanity.
