“The PGA Tour is registered with the IRS as a ‘business league’ and operates under nonprofit status. As has been reported over the years, that status allows the PGA to avoid hundreds of millions in taxes over the last few decades despite allegations that it spends well under 20 percent of its tour revenue on charity and that its executives are highly salaried in the millions per annum,”
They really need to tighten up those 'tax exempt' rules.

"The PGA Tour will remain a 501(c)(6) tax-exempt organization, according to the release, and will retain oversight of the sanctioning of events, administration of competition and rules."

Not to talk golf all day, but why is the PGA a tax-exempt organization?
The NFL is too (not the owners, but the NFL itself). I'm guessing since most of the money is dispersed to other entities (players, owners, etc...), the NFL and PGA are considered administrative bodies that are just pass throughs for most of the revenue, so the entities to whom they pass the money pay the taxes, not the organization who distributes it. Just a guess.

Every tournament has a charity affiliated with it, and money is donated to that charity. But, there have been articles done on this. Still alot of money goes elsewhere.

I don't get the Jayden Daniels/JJ McCarthy hype. KJ Jefferson is two tiers too high

It's been a relatively recent change, but the NFL is not tax-exempt anymore.

You probably put mayo on your corndogs.
Hell no. Mustard only. Honey mustard is really good. Don't make me use my karate skills on you.

I get it
Hex gotta prove it. He balls out against UVA, the bandwagon will get rolling.

haven't seen us talk about this in here yet but:

  • In 2022, Georgia took home the title in dominant fashion with a 77% ratio.
  • In 2021, Georgia had an 80 percent BCR and won it all, beating the No. 1 BCR team Alabama in the title game. Three of the four playoff teams were BCR teams as Cincinnati was the first crasher since 2017.
  • In 2020, Alabama had an 83 percent BCR and won it all. All four Playoff teams were BCR schools.
  • In 2019, LSU won it with a 64 percent BCR, and all four Playoff teams were BCR schools.
  • Clemson, with a 61 percent mark, took it home in 2018. And all four Playoff teams were BCR schools.
  • Alabama won it all in 2017 with an incredible 80 percent mark.
  • Clemson took home the title in 2016 after signing 52 percent blue chips in the 2013-16 classes.
  • In 2015, Alabama had a 77 percent mark.
  • In 2014, it was Ohio State at 68 percent.
  • In 2013, Florida State was at 53 percent.
  • In 2012, Alabama was at 71 percent
  • ... just as Bama was in 2011.

At some point a team with maybe a high 40s number, a transcendent QB, and great injury luck will bust this. It’s bound to happen. This almost happened in 2014 with Oregon and Marcus Mariota. An extremely talented Cincinnati team with a record nine players drafted made the CFB Playoff but was two wins away from winning it all. TCU was an awesome story in 2022, and made it to the final game, only to lose by eight touchdowns to Georgia.

Could that be Tennessee, Florida State, or Washington in 2023? We’ll see.

This. Plus possible ties to 9/11. I'm really against the oil/blood can buy anything philosophy.

Most recently very apparent in professional sports. Another example is the amount they are paying Ronaldo and now Benzema is absurd for their level of play (Messi might be next). Seems like they want to overtake the MLS as the close to retirement league for stars but can pay 10 times or more.

The crazy thing about the Benzema deal is he’s going to earn roughly 200M per year for 3 years, and he doesn’t even know what team he will play for yet. The Saudi fund essentially set up the contract and everything with him and then Benzema just gets to pick whatever team he wants to play for. Nuts.

I just don't know if the regionals is going to really be enough to improve your stock to change seeding minds.

We went 3-0, but also only beat 2 teams. Clemson was a big win I agree especially with it being a home game for them. Charlotte had a worst W-L % than every team Southern Miss faced so I don't think those 2 wins moved the needle much.

Southern Miss went 4-1 and had to play and beat all 3 teams in their regional. None of their wins were better than ours against Clemson, but all of them were as good or better than Charlotte.

Wild. And just read this:
"recent dialogue with Messi's representatives has involved senior figures in the Saudi government, such is their commitment to securing one of the greatest footballers in history. Messi could earn €1 billion over a two year contract in the Saudi Pro League and would be joining Cristiano Ronaldo who signed with the league in January and Karim Benzema, whose move to champions Al Ittihad is imminent."

PGA merging with Saudi LIV. Umm... that's bad. Really bad. The current guy in charge isn't the old man. He's a tyrant. PGA should've said hell to the no. Tiger Woods turned down 700 mil to play with LIV Golf last year.

Those guys could make that much anywhere. It's a world sport. They don't have to sell out to get that kind of bank.
