Yeah a good ERA doesn’t mean a pitcher will shove and a bad ERA doesn’t mean they’ll give up runs.

But if they have compiled those ERAs while pitching a good amount of innings, it does point to a trend regarding consistency (or lack thereof).

That's fair, but neither of those are as readily available as ERA, at least not at the college-level. Idk about you, but I'm not usually plugging numbers into the formula to calculate it myself.
