Tennessee was filled and rocking on and off even when we were ass. Just because talking heads weren't paying attention doesn't mean this fanbase went anywhere. The fans always did their part.

Nobody had Ole Miss last season and Missy State the season before winning the trophy. Just getting there was never predicted for either based on past performance.

If it's about backyard talent then Ole Miss and Miss State should shoot towards the top of this list. LSU and Alabama have been poaching that state for decades for some of their best talent.

OU has that much better "backyard talent?" Norman to Dallas is 3 hours. Knoxville has 2 that close- Nashville and Atlanta, and Charlotte is under 4 hours. That's craziness.

At some point, we should play Texas in the Alamodome, just for the symbolism. I still say we need a trophy rivalry game with them. The Battle for Betsy where the trophy is a reproduction of Davy Crockett's rifle. Of course, the anti-gun people would probably lose their minds and say it glorifies gun violence. It'll never happen anyway, and that's the least of the reasons why. But I think trophy games are kind of cool. I miss the beer barrel.
