Oh yay. They are shooting fahrworks again tonight.
was hoping after walking 15K steps today, and fighting he-who-doesnt-sleep well, to get to sleep at 930 ... that they'd start shooting them off!

fortunately I was rewarded with a continual pop-pop-pop-pop during and since my son went down, and thankfully they havent let up. such a reward after a long day.

Hey @VolsDoc81TX or other medical professionals of VN. Is there any medical benefit to giving blood on a regular basis. I gave today and was just wondering. I intend to continue giving blood as I am O+ but was wondering if it was beneficial for my health as well. TIA.
Since the practice of applying leeches isn’t prevalent nowadays…🤔

I heard this or read this once. No clue if it's true because I never followed up with it but I heard that men who give blood regularly have a smaller chance of heart disease than men who don't. Said it was on par with women's chances. Article likened it to women replenishing blood supplies from their periods each month and that was their reasoning. 🤷‍♂️

Now I wish they would skip Limonband go to Roaton Island Honduras, that place was beautiful...but at least I can add another country to those I've visited.

It's weird that Limon is considered so bad because all I have heard for years is how great Costa Rica is compared to the other Central American countries, and I thought Honduras and Belize were great when we visited so I wasn't sweating Costa Rica...I was looking forward to going there and now I'm sketch about it.

Probably isn't even as bad as San Fran and LA though...the freaks running Cali have turned those into 3rd world countries that really wierded me out when we were out there.

Limon is sketchy as sketch. It's historic. Limon province was basically not considered "true" Costa Rica by most of Costa Rica until mid-20th century or so. It was the coast where all the former slaves were kept. Completely different vibe. Didn't even have decent roads connecting the province. It' always been sort of a wild west feel.

Also, home invasion robberies are apparently becoming epidemic across Costa Rica, all provinces. It's a combination of deep poverty and a criminal system that generally won't do anything about it.

Will lower serum ferritin, which at one point was considered to be a possible reason heart disease was less prevalent in pre-menopausal women. Not sure if that research went anywhere.

With cholesterol and dementia in your family, you should get your APOE genetic status checked. You may well have one or more copies of APOE4. One copy increases your risk of Alzheimer's from 9% to 25-30%. Two copies increases that to 50-90%. In either case you can fight it with nutrition, supplements, and lifestyle. Key points to focus on is lowering insulin, fasting glucose, and homocysteine. Look up Dr. Dale Bredesen.
Do you know anything about MTHFR?
