The Rockies are newer mountains. The Appalachians are beyond ancient and unique. They were originally part of a mountain range that connected us to both Africa (Morroco) and Scotland but when Pangea broke apart it formed three separate chains. Our sister mountain are now the Little Atlas Mountains in Morroco. These mountains were once as tall as the Rockies but natural erosion took it's course - that should give you an idea of how much older they are.

The Alps, the Rockies, all the newer/younger mountains look alike snow covered, more jagged peaks, taller. The Appalachians look different because they're ridiculously old - from a time when Africa and North America were one.
Very cool. That's wild to think those areas and ranges are connected. Pangea must have had one hell of a party scene.

I love for t track racing, grew up with it. I hope it takes over NASCAR. . . so much more fun to watch and so much more accessible. It would be wild to see a track like Talledega under dirt 😂. Could you even run your cars on a track that big? Would be crazy.

You guys running 602, 604, Supers?

We run 604 & steelhead currently but looking into getting a super motor for a race here and there. Supers ran on bristol last few years but it was to fast and hard on equipment so anything bigger/banked than Bristol would probably be a bad idea lol

The question to me is why even worry or care?

We're literally good at....football....again. Isn't that the sport we're watching?

During our years of misery some began to think winning at recruiting and the offseason was the game to watch. Shoot, I hardly even pay attention to recruiting anymore. It's moot, we're actually good at football again. Lettuce enjoy.
It’s the mentality of the farmer who thought he could get MORE gold out of the goose if he gutted it.

Yeah, he makes some bold claims and then when he gets called on them he waives his hands and says: hey, I’m just the messenger. It’s not cool to hide behind unverified sources, especially when you first offer those opinions as your own.
Who knows, he may be right but he needs to fine tune his delivery. If you are going to bring negativity to the current good-feels environment, you need to have a little more substance or you’re going to get called out. I mean, we’ve all used the internet, right?

I respect that volfan2022 liked this. I appreciate deprecating self-awareness.
Now, bring us the good stuff—I’m in a 15-0 kind of mood today!

Went there in 09 so not sure how much has changed. We were not aware of the large Mennonite community/influence.
Funny story one of the nurses on our trip got sick so a couple of us guys went into town to get meds(no prescription required) sign outside pharmacy “seller of poisons and medicine“👀
Wow that is interesting. Makes sense, i'm sure there is a large contingency of missionaries. It is still a third world country.

I did research all inclusives in early 2010's, for our honeymoon. There really was nothing there at the time, and because of its remoteness was super pricey. Also as has been my experience in the Carribean, narco traffickers continue to wreak havoc on these places.

My friend was at a resort in Belize City, when narcos came in off the beach. Everyone scattered. Same thing happened a week before we were in Dominican, but in that instance police and Narcos were involved in gun fight. I'm sure this type of thing happens frequently, you dont hear about innocent deaths.

Dont mean to get off topic, but that pretty much nixes taking the kids.

To be clear, all I’ve said is we need to recruit better on the offensive line and Larry Johnson won’t be a good player here. We don’t have a back-up option at tackle and if we get Warren it’ll be lucky/fortunate because we were out of options. All my criticism is directed at OL recruiting.
How can you say getting Warren will be lucky??? I highly doubt you know our staff or how they approach recruiting. Our coaches are very good at evaluating talent and fit. If we land Bennett and Satterwhite this will be a very good O-line class. Offensive line is the hardest position to evaluate. It is more important to be able to develop O-linemen than get a 5 star and either not have the coach to develop him or the player has issues or is just a bust. What I am saying is having a very good o-line coach that can coach the high 3 and 4 stars up is very important and we got that. Keep winning and no doubt by next year you will see some 5 star O-Lineman. And in closing I will remind O-lineman are the hardest to evaluate for the services. It’s vital to have coaches that can identify who can help at this level. Put me down for very confident with our O-line coach. From where they started to going into the 3rd year I think this year will show we are developing depth and coaching players up! GBO!!!!

We landed in Belize City, first thing you notice as an American anti-aircraft guns on either side of the landing strip! Second thing you notice (remember this was 2009) police men walking through the airport with machine guns hanging from their shoulders.

The people were really nice and if they were teenagers or older they spoke English.

Someone told me once it is one of the few places English is spoken primarily, or bilingually. Perhaps there is a strategic reason why America has had such an influence, perhaps it is tourism, perhaps it is Panama- I do know when I researched that its one of the few places where its own currency (relatively) was stable versus the American dollar.

Once tipped a can driver in Punta Cana $20, and he wept openly. Also, machine guns abound.

I am about to drive through the Andes in Colombia. Blew me away the first time. Rugged as the Rockies except green with palms.
I have spent quite a bit of time traveling in the Ecuadorian Andes from Quito traveling south. What is amazing to me was traveling from a valley at 9000 ft above sea level up to16,000 ft in about 20 minutes. It literally takes your breath.

Wait, Andy's from Quito? Bro, that dude is from Kingsport.

Latest Gold Rush is set in Bolivia - I think. Or Peru. Or somewhere, one of team members got real sick flying in and out those altitudes. Crazy the heights can tolerate, just to crudely mine gold.

What is crazy is that they've found evidence in the Little Atlas area that these mega chain mountains were once taller than the Himalayans. And def. great parties when continents collide lol.

I think machine guns are quite standard in many countries for airport security and police usage. My first trip to Russia in the 90’s really surprised me with all the machine guns at the airport.

I was riding with a friend in a small Russian city and the traffic cops all carried machine guns. We were pulled over for running a red light and I gave my driver two US twenty dollar bills, one for each officer. As I sat in the car one officer circled the vehicle. Fortunately, the officers happily accepted $20 each.

Guys were walking down the street in Punta Cana, standing on street corner.
