July 21, 1873

Jesse James and his notorious gang of outlaws staged the world's first robbery of a moving train the evening of July 21, 1873, a mile and a half west of Adair, Iowa.

Early in July the gang had learned that $75,000 in gold from the Cheyenne region was to come through Adair on the recently build main line of the Chicago, Rock Island, & Pacific Railroad.

Jesse sent his brother, Frank James, and Cole Younger to Omaha to learn when the gold shipment was to reach there. Jesse, Jim and Tom Younger, Clell Miller and Bill Chadwell remained camped in the hills in the Adair area.

Finally, Frank James and Cole Younger got their tip that the gold shipment was on its way east and they brought the report to Jesse who had made plans for the train robbery.

Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford is the best western ever made and this part of the movie is incredible,

Only question at LG. LT Campbell is an experienced starter and Mincey/Crawford should easily cover RT.

Shirley we have someone serviceable that can slide in at LG. Ollie Lane may not have been a big time cruit but he has logged snaps. Plus we have several young guys that should be able to take that job as well. I think the line will be fine when we kickoff in Nashville.

The fact that Ollie Lane is a candidate to start is a testament to not following our recent narratives. Massai Reddick, Mo Clipper and Brian Grant haven’t even taken regular season snaps and VQ has written them off. Ollie and Dayne Davis kept showing up and learning and they’re not useless…funny how that works.
