UVA is a great school, you make a really great argument. I’d make the bet with you their football would improve dramaticallyThey are historically a better football program. That’s true.
Does UVA offer a better footprint for TV deals? Maybe.
UVA also has a premier basketball program.
UVA is the premier academic institution.
Give em SEC money and id bet they get better at football.
I think UVA is the better option. Jmo.
Either way, the OL didn’t get it done. Hooker was pressured constantly and barely had any time to throw. Agreed though that our receivers were getting held some and jammed at the line. Reminded me of some of those Florida games from years ago. They pulled the same stuff. The difference in the OL was the crowd..period.
But what shut the offense down was UGA raping our recievers on the los, thereby keeping them from getting so wide open as they usually do, and getting absolutely zero calls against them for it.
And Arkansas and S Carolina. I've never liked it. Neither belong.
And, they brought with them the conference championship game...imo, THE foundation of all we've seen happen since, and what's happening today. That was their first taste of what ratings would be like, and what the networks (in 1992, the beginning of expansion beyond ABC, CBS, NBC) would pay for it. That game sowed the seeds of 21st-Century TV contracts...the engine that is at full-throttle, that is driving ALL of this.
Cultural fit wise, I think VT is probably a better fit for the SEC overall than UVA who seems more akin to someone like Vanderbilt.
I would put Mays ahead of even Joe Cool, as our most important player. Quoting AP, he is critical to making this offense go. Behind him at C is a huge question mark.
They do that every game…. It’s how I wish we would teach our DBs…..it didn’t work as well for Georgia against Ohio state. The difference in the OL was the crowd..period.

I sort of see why some were salty at us when the 9/3 format when it was being discussed. Tennessee looks like its on the upswing big time and it gets to ditch Georgia but keep Vandy/UK every year.Vandy needs a little bro in this league. Btw, I'm fine with UT having Vandy, UVA and UK as our permanent opponents.
I’ve stated this before that every season in this scheme, the OL under Ellarbee gets better and better…regardless of departing talent like Wright. The other players in the position group pick each other up and act as another coach. Culture builds culture. This dynamic will be tested whenever Cooper Mays departs, but remember he was nowhere near the performer previous to the coaching change. Teaching and a silent rock star in Kurt Schmidt building their core.Getting more and more excited.
